Who Is Steel Ball Run’s Funny Valentine?

The Villainous 23rd President Of The United States

As a child, Steel Ball Run’s Funny Valentine was born in America and was a descendant of British nobility. When he was little, his father was sent to war, where he was captured, brutally tortured, and killed, though he didn’t reveal any secrets about America. Later on, Valentine himself served during the Civil War where he was captured and tortured as well, giving him his iconic American flag-shaped scar on his back. Valentine then discovered the existence of the pieces of the Holy Corpse sometime after the war.

After this, Valentine rose through the ranks and eventually became the 23rd President of the United States in JoJo’s highest rated part. Soon after discovering a map of where the various pieces of the Holy Corpse are located across the country, he orchestrated the Steel Ball Run from behind the scenes, in order to give him an opportunity to collect them in secret. By collecting these pieces, Valentine would be able to increase the power and influence of his beloved homeland, America. Although this motivation may seem far from evil at first, based on Valentine’s personality, this may be a dangerous outcome for the entire world.

Funny Valentine’s personality is defined by the extreme level of patriotism that he feels for the country, which fans will see in Steel Ball Runs new anime. His entire goal of receiving the Holy Corpse pieces is to make sure America is superior to every other country in the world. Additionally, Valentine is charismatic and dignified, though he hides a sinister cruelty behind his patriotic appearance. For Valentine, might and power are incredibly important since he believes those with the power to make the initial decisions are those who control the fate of the world.

Funny Valentine, being the main antagonist of Steel Ball Run, has an extremely powerful Stand called Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, or D4C for short. Simply put, D4C gives Valentine the ability to travel between alternate dimensions when pressed between two objects. This ability allows him to pull others into alternate realities or allows him to trade bodies with an alternate Valentine, letting him quickly heal from injuries. Eventually, the Stand receives an upgraded ability, D4C – Love Train, which allows him to hide in a small dimension between dimensions, and redirect all misfortune that comes his way.

However, almost everything Funny Valentine does, including the collection of the Corpse pieces, is for the betterment of the country.

In the end, there’s a reason why many fans believe Funny Valentine is one of the best-designed JoJo’s villains.
