If you’ve ever been on a romantic quest in The Sims, you’ve likely come across Don Lothario someplace along the way – whether trying to woo him yourself, or trying to woo all the ladies away from him. Noted ladies man in each game he appears, Don Lothario has quite the romantic history.

He’s rather involved with the Caliente family – typically the sisters Nina and Dina, but also with mother Katrina in the latest entry in the series. Having received his own man cave-inspired kit for The Sims 4, we’re taking a look at all things about this casanova.
The Sims 2
Don Lothario was first introduced in The Sims 2 in 2004, womanizing in the Pleasantview neighborhood in the base game (despite having no base Charisma skill when you begin playing in his household). He’s a Leo, outgoing and active, in the middle of both the serious/playful and grouchy/nice personality meters, and remarkably sloppy with only one personality point allotted here. He’s most interested in discussing animals, fashion, the weather, sports, and money.
While he’s technically engaged to Cassandra Goth, he’s also got existing relationships with both Nina and Dina Caliente, as well as Kaylynn Langerak, the maid. While Dina is only listed as a crush, both Nina and Kaylynn appear with the lover status. His memories paint a messy story of a first kiss with Dina just before falling in love with Nina. Kaylynn enters the picture with passion, so much that Don cheats on Cassandra with her shortly after they get engaged (which is a negative memory for him).
Curiously, he’s also got a memory about Bella Goth rejecting him for a make-out, just before he has his first kiss with her daughter Cassandra. The mystery of Bella Goth in The Sims runs deep, and it’s stated in The Sims 2 that Bella was last seen on Don’s property. You can find Don and Cassandra Goth in the backyard of the Goth house in a new save, preparing for their wedding out back.
You’ll need to work on their relationship a bit first if you’d like them to wed, though, since Don will typically refuse to finalize the marriage otherwise.
The Sims 3
While the third entry in the Sims series messes with time travel quite a bit, Don’s bio mentions that he remembers women laughing at him before he entered a teleporter and arrived in Riverview, a free download world from the Sims Store. He doesn’t have any of the skills he had in The Sims 2, but he still wants to date around as he did in the previous game.
When the Caliente sisters were added with the Barnacle Bay world from the Sims Store, they had no relationship with Don by default, instead fighting over Juan Jr. Inkbeard, Jeff Smith, and Alec Trebo. While they don’t share a history, Don and Dina both have the same five traits: Charismatic, Commitment Issues, Flirty, Hot-Headed, and Schmoozer.

The Sims 4
In terms of the Sims timeline, The Sims 4 exists outside of it in its own spin-off universe, and Don’s place in it is rather curious. He lives with the Caliente family now, which consists of Nina and Dina but also their in-universe mother, Katrina. While the family bio says Don and Katrina are in a relationship, referring to him as her “boy toy,” Don only has friendly relationships with the three women in the house at the beginning of a new save.
The Caliente household has been the subject of two major base game updates, both mostly cosmetic in nature. First was a May 2023 update that changed their appearances, while the January 2025 base game townie home update refreshed the Caliente household as part of the overhaul. While Don previously had a small bedroom of his own on the Caliente property, it’s been removed, suggesting more about his relationship with Katrina.
Despite this, the family’s bio still makes it no secret that Nina and Dina aren’t off the table as romance options just because he’s dating their mother – old flames must not fade even in alternate universes. Like before, he still has no Charisma skill to speak of, only with some Fitness points to his name at the beginning of a new save. Unlike older games, though, Don is unemployed, potentially hinting at why he moved in with Katrina despite his noncommittal trait and Serial Romantic aspiration.
Casanova Cave Kit
If you’d like to give Don Lothario a little space of his own back in the Caliente household, he’s all but the focus of the Casanova Cave kit that launched in January 2025 as well. Sure, Don might be without a bedroom at the Caliente house nowadays, but that doesn’t mean the kit isn’t perfect for building him his own man-cave!
The kit is all about adding some decor and decadence to make this room everything a guy like Don could ever want. Not only can you offer him a little makeover with the assortment of CAS items added with the pack, but you’ll also have a variety of tyraditional man cave items like mini-fridges, bars, sports memorabilia, and plenty of options for entertainment.
