Many of Warframe’s
Infested weapons come with a unique mechanic that helps them stand out. The Caustacyst is a good example, featuring a unique heavy attack that launches a pool of toxic bile at the target. This bile lingers for a short duration, making it a great method of status priming or dealing tick damage.

This weapon has recently received a Coda variant, greatly increasing its base damage stats through progenitor bonuses and other modifiers. Today, we’ll be looking at how to get the most out of the Caustacyst, covering everything from drop sources to endgame buiilds that scale in Steel Path and beyond.
How To Obtain The Caustacyst
The Caustacyst can be obtained from the Bio Lab in your clan dojo. Since the blueprint can only be acquired from a clan dojo, you’ll need to either be part of a clan to craft this weapon or use Platinum to purchase the Caustacyst outright from the in-game market.
Of course, you can always wait to get the Coda version later in the game. Upon completing ”
The Hex
” quest, you can create a
Technocyte Coda
to farm for Live Heartcells. Give them to Eleanor in Hollvania to get your hands on some Coda weapons. The Coda Caustacyst is in Rotation B of her shop which rotates every four days.

As with most scythes in Warframe, the Caustacyst is tailored for heavy attack builds above all else. The Caustacyst’s heavy attack launches a pool of bile across the floor, making targets vulnerable to finishers if hit by the wave. The wave itself doesn’t deal much damage, but it inherits your elemental damage mods and status chance modifiers, making this an excellent way to debuff a tight cluster of enemies.
The heavy attack wave is unaffected by (Primed) Reach.
The Coda version makes this wave slightly larger, but it’s otherwise the same gimmick. Critical stats are significantly higher on the Coda version as well, allowing you to use the Caustacyst as a more traditional workhorse weapon against fodder units.

Caustacyst Builds
We’ll be looking at one endgame build for the Caustacyst today, one that focuses on making this a powerful Melee Influence weapon through the use of multiple combined elements. Use the heavy attack to prime a wide area, then use your melee swings to deal some serious damage.

Coda Caustacyst |
The single strongest part of this build is Melee Influence, an Arcane that will spread all status ailments to nearby targets within 20 meters after you land an Electric status effect. You’ll want either an Electricity progenitor bonus or Voltaic Strike on your build to ensure you can proc this Arcane; it’s where most of your damage comes from.
You’ll want to spam as many status effects as possible, so we’ll be using Weeping Wounds and Vicous Frost—paired with Primed Fever Strike to make Viral or Molten Impact for Blast—to greatly increase your status chance. Throw on Galvanized Elementalist for even more status chance, and you’ll easily apply three or more status ailments per swing or toxic bile DoT.
As for damage, you’ll want Primed Pressure Point and Condition Overload to scale your base damage. Your Galvanized Elementalist mod from earlier will scale your status damage as well, making your Electricity procs surprisingly strong. If you’re running Blast instead of Viral, then this damage increase is especially noticeable. Finish the build with Primed Fury for some much-needed attack speed.
