Strongest Creature Commandos Members In The Animated Series

Creature Commandos Last Episode Will Have A Post Credits Scene

James Gunn has been tasked with reinventing the flagging DC Cinematic Universe, and his first step in doing so was the Creature Commandos animated show. While many casual comic book fans may not have been familiar with the team in December 2024, the series’ success and quality should have changed that.

Suicide Squad Isekai: 6 Strongest Characters, Ranked

The Suicide Suqad Isekai features the now-famous ragtag band of supervillain castoffs, some of whom are much stronger than others.

Creatures Commandos does a good job of clearing up the DCU’s messy canon. The show is full of James Gunn’s trademark sense of humor and has included some impressively animated action scenes. The team members may not be that well-known, but fans are already falling in love with them. A cast of C-listers by design, the Creature Commandos aren’t as powerful as superhero teams like the Justice League or Avengers, but they’re not weaklings either. Let’s rank the Creature Commandos so far based on their strengths, weaknesses, and feats as portrayed in the show.

Spoiler warning for the entire show. Most of the examples are from the first half of season 1, but there are a few mentions that spoil things that happen in the second half.

6

Rick Flag Sr.

The Team’s Veteran Human Leader

Major Strengths:

Major Weaknesses:

Leadership

No Superhuman Abilities

Tactics

Emotional Vulnerability After Son’s Death

Firearm Proficiency

Hand-To-Hand Combat Skills

Rick Flag Sr. is the human leader of the Creature Commandos. Put in charge by Amanda Waller, it’s his job to make sure none of the members go off script or try to escape. His son, Rick Flag Jr., led the suicide squad until his death at the hands of Peacemaker in one of the best DCEU movies, The Suicide Squad.

7 Best Movies Written By James Gunn

James Gunn has a great history with writing movies as he gears up to write Superman: Legacy, but which James Gunn-written movies are the best?

Flag is a great, charismatic character, but his bottom ranking shouldn’t come as a surprise. He’s a highly trained soldier and leader but possesses no superhuman abilities or fancy gadgets. So far in the show, he’s faced off against both Frankenstein and Dr. Phosphorus and survived, but he probably wouldn’t have if they’d gone all out on him. In a team full of superpowered members, Flagg is just a man.

5

Weasel

Does Whatever A Weasel Can

Weasel in Creature Commandos

Major Strengths:

Major Weaknesses:

Enhanced Strength and Speed

Unstable Mental State

Razor Sharp Teeth And Claws

Low Intelligence

Agility

Unpredictable

Weasel first appeared in the most recent Suicide Squad film, and now he’s made the jump to animation. Mostly played for laughs, he wasn’t the best Suicide Squad member, but he’s shaping up to be a fan favorite Creature Commando. The show has already delved into his backstory, showing that he’s not the child-eating monster the film had us believe.

7 Best Comic Character Translations Into Live Action

Not all comic book characters can gracefully make the transition to live-action. These, however, do so seamlessly and to great effect.

Weasel shows more bravery in the show than in the film and proves surprisingly handy against Circe. He seems to be slightly stronger than a normal human male and packs razor-sharp teeth and claws. However, he’s been shown to be vulnerable to low-caliber firearms and seems to be of low intelligence. While a great addition to the team, he’s clearly weaker than most of the other members.

4

Nina Mazursky

A Human Fish Out Of Water

Nina Mazusky in her jail cell

Major Strengths:

Major Weaknesses:

Amphibious Physiology

Needs A Helmet To Breathe

Ability To Breathe Underwater

Lacks Other Enhanced Abilities

Super Genius Intellect

Nina is a hard one to rank because she doesn’t do that much in the show, particularly before episode 7. Creature Commandos reveals that she’s a scientist and that she needs water to be able to breathe. She struggles in the few fights she takes part in, to extremely disastrous results in one case.

In the comic books, she’s the daughter of the scientist who founded the original Creature Commandos team and was born human but turned herself into an aquatic monster. The show doesn’t show off Nina’s powers that much.

3

G.I. Robot

A Literal Nazi-Hunting Killing Machine

Easy Company with G.I. Robot from Creature Commandos (2024)
HBO Max

Major Strengths:

Major Weaknesses:

Enhanced Strength And Speed

Limited By Programming

Weaponized Limbs

Obsessed With Nazis

Can Fly / Hover

Enhanced Senses

In the comic books, there have been a few incarnations of G.I. Robot, and it’s not 100% clear which one the animation is based on. Viewers only got to see him at his best in a couple of scenes, but it’s clear that G.I. Robot is a literal killing machine.

Every Opening Scene In The DCEU, Ranked

The movies and shows of the DCEU range in quality, and that includes their intro scenes. Here’s how they stack up against each other.

G.I. Robot is impressively high-tech for a robot built in WW2 and upgraded in the 60s. Both his arms can function as machine guns, and he can ditch his legs to fly/hover. He’s been shown gunning down dozens of enemies at a time, but friendly fire is an issue because he has a habit of getting carried away. Unfortunately, his defense isn’t as impressive as his offense, and Circe dealt with him easily.

2

Dr. Phosphorus

A Radioactive Psychopath

Dr. Phosphorus in prison

Major Strengths:

Major Weaknesses:

Radiation Manipulation

Burns Everything He Touches

Heat Powers

Mentally Unstable

Enhanced Durability

Creature Commandos took awhile to show off Dr. Phosphorus’ backstory, but it was eventually touched upon in episode 6. Once known as Doctor Alexander Sartorius, he was a nuclear physicist who built his own nuclear power plant on the outskirts of Gotham. When it went boom, he lost his sanity but gained some impressive powers in the process, and he used his abilities to become a criminal overlord and take on Batman.

Dr. Phosphorus uses his nuclear powers to generate high levels of heat. In his brawl with Flag, he used these powers to cause burns on contact, something he also did to Circe’s face. When facing off against gunmen, he can use his powers to block ranged attacks. In both 1-on-1 fights and group battles, Dr. Phosphorus has proven himself to be one of the team’s most powerful members.

1

The Bride

Won’t Let Being Undead Stop Her

The bride in jail

Major Strengths:

Major Weaknesses:

Zombie Physiology

Lacks Social Skills

Superhuman Strength

Cannot Heal Naturally From Injuries

Enhanced Durability/ Immortality

Combat Skills

Decades Of Experience

It’s pretty clear who the strongest member of the Creature Commando is. While Flag is the team’s captain, The Bride is its heavy hitter. Thanks to her undead nature, she appears to be almost unkillable and is capable of impressive feats of super-strength.

DC: 10 Strongest Creature Commando Characters in the Comics

DC’s Creature Commandos are coming to the DCU. If they’re anything like their comic counterparts, here’s how they stack up in terms of strength.

She’s an excellent fighter with over a century’s worth of combat experience. Her age is arguably her greatest strength, making her even more experienced than Flag. Arguably, her only weakness is the fact she’s not a team player, something being a member of the Creature Commandos looks set to change. Unless Dr. Phosphorus or Nina get major upgrades or ex-husband Eric Frankenstein joins the team full-time, The Bride looks set to remain the strongest member.
