Resident Evil Games That Would Make Great Movies
If any Resident Evil games have the potential to make a great movie, it would be the following entries in Capcom’s hit franchise.
9
Ada Wong
The Double-Crossing Anti-Hero Could Make a Compelling Main Villain

- Released
-
January 21, 1998
- ESRB
-
M For Mature 17+ Due To Blood and Gore, Violence
- OpenCritic Rating
-
Mighty
Before fans seize their torches and pitchforks upon seeing Ada on the villains list, no one is denying the good she has done in the series, which she does so in her own roundabout way. Her fondness for Leon is very touching, and when the going gets tough, she mostly sides with him. But she also has her own goals and motivations which often don’t align with the heroes’, and her double-agent status often makes her hard to trust.
As such, Ada could make a great villain for the movies, even if she isn’t one in the games. It could come as a twist if she betrays the heroes at the end, making off with whatever information or sample she intended to steal at the start. It would be a risky move that might not be worth the backlash from die-hard fans, but if done well, Ada’s transition to a full-on villain could be worth it.

Ramon Salazar (Resident Evil 4)
One of Capcom’s More Unique Villains

Fans agree that the castle is the best part of Resident Evil 4. Gorgeous architecture, traps lying in wait, fun yet terrifying enemies, and its lord, Ramon Salazar, all make it a joy to play. Salazar is a unique villain who somehow looks like both a child and an old man, his appearance in the remake even hilariously compared to a certain British politician.

Resident Evil 4 Remake: Every Major Boss, Ranked By Design
There’s a wide variety of weird and intimidating bosses in the remake of Resident Evil 4, but how do they compare when looking at their designs?
Not above jeering and mocking Leon and his efforts to save Ashley, he is one of the more chatty villains. Moviemakers would have to balance this aspect carefully to avoid making their movie an unintentional parody. But his conflicting human appearance and monstrous, mutated body are both truly effective villain forms which could translate to an excellent movie monster, if producers do decide to go down the route of RE4.
7
William Birkin (Resident Evil 2)
An Excellent Example of Body Horror
Though Mr. X was the main threat of RE2, there was another villain who terrified players, especially with the new shiny coat of paint in the remake. That was William Birkin. A scientist who was planning to turn over his work, Birkin’s betrayal was ultimately found out. When he lay there dying, he decided to save his own life by injecting himself with the G-virus, transforming himself into a monster.
This transformation from human to monster could work as the prelude to the final fight in the movie, as now the heroes have to contend with the infected Birkin in all his gross glory. The mutation scene is a stomach-churning one, and could introduce excellent elements of body horror into the movie.

Alcina Dimitrescu (Resident Evil Village)
The Towering Vampire is a Favorite Among Fans

Equal parts gorgeous and terrifying, Lady Dimitrescu had the entire internet in a choke-hold when her character was revealed. Fans could not give enough of her, even though her time in Village came to a close all too soon. As such, fans would rejoice if she returned in a movie adaptation in all her towering glory.
Though Resident Evil Village is far less likely to receive an adaptation than earlier games, there is no denying Lady Dimitrescu would make for a fantastic movie villain. Her vampiric nature offers the franchise something new and refreshing, and her gorgeous castle would be a challenging yet hugely rewarding set-piece to design and construct. A gothic horror movie would be bold for RE, but the payoff could be worth it.
5
Osmund Saddler (Resident Evil 4)
Lofty Goals of Taking Over the World
The main threat and the one behind the kidnapping of the president’s daughter in Resident Evil 4 was Osmund Saddler. His goal was to use Ashley as a Las Plagas host to infect the President himself, in turn making him the true ruler of the country. It is quite the lofty goal Saddler had in mind, meaning Leon could not afford to fail in his goal of keeping Ashley alive and parasite-free.
With these goals in mind, Saddler could provide the dangerous villain the movie needs, as such high stakes are needed to ensure a thrilling and tense movie. But with the considerable cheese of RE4, even at some points in the remake, moviemakers need to be careful when crafting his on-screen persona. Otherwise, Saddler might come across as one of the over-the-top Saturday morning cartoon bad guys.

The Baker Family (Resident Evil 7)
The Baker Family Were Instrumental in RE7’s Success

Resident Evil 7 took the series in a bold new direction, returning it to a focus on horror and opting for a first-person perspective, which only served to make the entire experience even more frightening. Rather than playing one of the series’ established heroes, it introduced Ethan Winters, an ordinary man who travels to Louisiana in search of his missing wife Mia. There, he meets the family that have held her captive for all this time, the Bakers.

These bosses in Resident Evil 7 present the hardest battles for players of the survival game.
On his way to rescue Mia and get the heck out of dodge, Ethan has to contend with each of the family members. With more than one threat, it could be challenging to give each family member the screen-time they deserve, but it would ensure that the icy grip of terror would not stop for a single second of the runtime.
3
Nemesis (Resident Evil 3)
Terrifying and Intimidating

- Released
-
November 10, 1999
- ESRB
-
M For Mature 17+ Due To Blood and Gore, Violence
Resident Evil 3 showed another side of the Raccoon City incident, namely Jill’s. She is forced back onto the battlefield when a juggernaut of unstoppable strength called Nemesis makes it its life mission to end all S.T.A.R.S. members, and she is next on the chopping block. Both the original and remake do a fantastic job of making Nemesis one of the most intimidating threats across the entire franchise, as he is nigh unkillable until the final boss battle.
As such a challenging foe to face, Nemesis could be the perfect villain for the movie. The heroes would find themselves faced with almost unbeatable odds, making for a tense and thrilling cinema experience.
2
Mr. X (Resident Evil 2)
This Stalker Enemy is Perfect for a Horror Movie
After fleeing from a horde of flesh-eating zombies, Leon and Claire seek refuge inside the Raccoon City Police Department, hoping it will at least be a little safer than outside, though they will find more than zombies occupying the hallways. There are the terrifying and deadly lickers, and of course, the infamous Mr. X.
The trench-coat and hat-wearing creature could rival Nemesis in terms of intimidation factor. He is tall and imposing in stature, and can only be stunned for a few seconds no matter how much lead he eats. His appearances are always startling, even if prefaced by thundering footsteps, which makes him the ideal villain for a movie that wants to stick to a darker and scarier tone. Those footsteps would have every RE fan gritting their teeth in anticipation, the build-up resulting in this terrifying figure bursting onto the scene.
1
Albert Wesker
The Highlight of the Previous Live Action Movies

- Released
-
March 22, 1996
- ESRB
-
Mature 17+ // Blood and Gore, Language, Violence
Wesker is undoubtedly the most popular villain in the franchise, having appeared in multiple games within the series, the live-action adaptations, and even the ill-fated Netflix show. His status as a double agent, his intelligence, ruthlessness, and over-the-top cheesiness in games such as Resident Evil 5 have placed him firmly at the top.
As such, many fans will not only be hoping to see Wesker, but outright expecting him to make an appearance, at the very least. Though his human appearance is far less intimidating than all the monstrous creatures, this is what sets him apart, and makes him all the more compelling. His intelligence, complexities, and motivations go beyond giving directives to kill targets. This could make for a more in-depth storyline than what could be done with other villains in the series.
