Rather, it appears that Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing will be making its way to modern hardware, for better or worse, at some point in 2025. Oh, and it’s not an April Fool’s Day prank, either.
Blame It On Margarite Entertainment
As the story goes, reliable Twitter user Wario64 managed to spot a Steam store listing for Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing with a Q2 2025 release window.
However, as quickly as the spot went live, it appeared that it could’ve been some sort of prank, as the publisher hadn’t released anything before and was making use of an AI-generated logo.
That is, until the publisher, Margarite Entertainment, posted on Steam, clarifying that it had obtained the rights to several classic titles, including Big Rigs. In other words, it’s real. It’s dang real.
Just How Bad Is Big Rigs?
When the game was originally released in 2003, it launched to a Metacritic score of … 8. Yes, 8 out of 100. Granted, that score is based on just five critic reviews, but the consensus is largely the same — it’s bad.
A snippet of G4TV’s review reads, “This is, hands-down, the worst video game to ever see the light of day. Really.”
In the process, it’s also become somewhat of a meme on YouTube, with gamers flocking to see just how bad the game was. For instance, Angry Video Game Nerd’s review of the title has eclipsed 11 million reviews. Meanwhile, GameSpot’s review has another 2 million views, while a longplay of the game has 1.6 million views.
All that is to say that it’s an objectively bad game, but don’t take it from us. If you want to experience it for yourself, it seems like it won’t be long before you’re driving a Big Rig. Good luck.
