Games like Monster Hunter Wilds are rife with discoveries for players to stumble upon. One player found that captured monsters will simply wake up and leave, another found that your knife will change based on the belt that you’re wearing, and I translated the official Monster Hunter Wilds artbook to find out the origins of the Quematrice.

Surprise surprise, the most boring pick is number one.
Over on Reddit, another player, tgaDave, has made a realization that nobody asked for or that nobody needed to know— some Monster Hunter Wilds characters are missing their wisdom teeth.
For Some Reason, There Is A Discrepancy In The Amount Of Teeth That Monster Hunter Wilds Characters Have
It’s perhaps one of the most unnecessary discoveries the Monster Hunter community has ever made, but only select characters have wisdom teeth in Monster Hunter Wilds.
tgaDave found that “Only Testuzan and the other extremely old Wyverians (the tiny ones) have wisdom teeth! Not even the Allhearken has hers yet! Neither do the other large but relatively young Wyverians.” They also note that “Your hunter and basically everyone else all have 28 teeth, while the oldest wyverians have 32.”
Only Testuzan and the other extremely old Wyverians (the tiny ones) have wisdom teeth.
While the discovery is rather mundane, it sparked debate in the community as to why this is the case.
Hitei00 suggested, “It’s believed in the real world that we’re slowly evolving away our wisdom teeth as a species, and probably have been for thousands of years if not longer since we became omnivores. MH humans are probably just further along that evolutionary path,” with other players quick to exclaim that they themselves were born without them.
While Hitei’s theory was lore-based, NettleBumbleBee had an idea more focused on game design, adding it could be “Just a model design thing, and the small Wyverians have more teeth to make their larger mouths look more normal when they speak.”
Whatever it is, it’s equal parts stupid and fascinating.
