Fishing in Minecraft doesn’t require much, with the player simply placing three sticks and two strings on a crafting table to make a fishing rod. In Minecraft, players can fish for items like enchanted books, leather boots, and even water bottles. But the main attraction is finding the fish, which currently appear in the game in four types. Redditor La_Ploppona has collected 3000 of Minecraft‘s 3072 tropical fish variants. In one of the images, they show dozens of different fish head frames, to help them identify the variants, and another two images highlight two varieties of tropical fish – snooper light gray and magenta, and stripey light blue and blue. They say they spent two years putting the collection together while playing with their children. To make the feat even more impressive, they got all the fish swimming in vanilla survival, with no farms. In order not to lose track of their unusual task, they used a spreadsheet to catalog each variant found.
Minecraft’s Tropical Fish Impress with their Incredible Number of Variants
Tropical fish appear in the oceans, mangrove swamps, and lush caves. These passive Minecraft mobs impress in two ways, one of which is their incredible variety. Players in Minecraft Java Edition can find 3,072 naturally generated tropical fish variants, each with different shapes and colors, and unique names. Players in the Bedrock Edition can find 2,700 variants, and although the number is smaller, it is still significant. The other reason tropical fish attract attention is their low occurrence: their spawn rate is only 2%.
The tropical fish were added in 2018 as part of the Aquatic Update, an important Minecraft update that, in addition to the fish, brought new features such as kelp and sea pickles, and mobs including dolphins, turtles, and the drowned. For players who want to check out the latest, Mojang has unveiled a big Minecraft update to improve the experience with the game’s visuals. Additionally, it was announced that the sandbox will receive an adorable new block that will allow players to have pet ghasts.
