Why You Should Get into Fighting Games in 2025
Fighting games are enjoying a golden age that will continue in 2025, with major DLC and new titles both ensuring there will be something for everyone.
Being a completely different genre from anything Riot has made before, it will be interesting to see how classic champions fit into the gameplay of 2XKO, and there are certainly some obvious choices when it comes to what fans want to see. Then there are the clear-cut choices, League champions that would fit perfectly with the style and action-packed intensity of 2XKO.
8
Sett
The Mamma’s Boy
Two fists and a fighting spirit, Sett is a menace on the Rift whether he’s marching down the top lane or suplexing the enemy frontline straight onto their carry’s head. A pit fighter at heart, his kit is incredibly simple and would translate well into a fighting game, using his crowd-control abilities to pull enemy players in close, and it would be great to see his grit, the damage-storing mechanic, in a different medium.
It would also be great to see some tag-team combinations, with Sett as the main Point character, throwing the enemy across the screen and combining with the Assist character to create some awesome moments and insane damage combos. He gets up close and personal, fighting toe-to-toe with nothing but his fists, so he would be a no-brainer addition to a fighting game roster.
7
Jhin
One, Two, Three, FOUR
As has already been shown, Riot is not afraid to experiment with ranged characters in 2XKO, with fellow ADC Jinx already seen shooting and juggling opponents in cinematic fashion. Ranged abilities and characters are not new for fighting games, so Jhin, with his kit of perfection and gorgeous animations, would be a great fit in a fighting game.

The Most Iconic Character Archetypes In Fighting Games
Fighting games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat follow character archetypes, which can identify the playstyle of the character.
He is incredibly well-designed in League, focusing more on slow but high-damage output and speed rather than quick-attack speed like his peers in the role. Bringing some of his supportive aspects, like the Root and traps, could be great to add a different playstyle to 2XKO, and seeing him come in with some snares or long-ranged snipes would be very cool as an Assist character.
6
Akali
Swift Dashes And Precise Strikes
Cunning, quick, and stylish, Akali is both insanely popular and widely hated by many players. Part of that dislike comes from her fast combo potential and invisibility, which makes fighting her alone incredibly challenging, as soon enough, the shuriken will fly and the execute is quick to follow. She already has the perfect design to suit a gritty fighting game, and her kit would function well as a careful and patient character, biding time and waiting for the perfect opening.
It would be nice to see her skill-ceiling transition over from League, bringing a similar set of combos and strategies that allow the player complete autonomy over how they choose to play out each fight. Plus, as a character with plenty of dashes, it’s almost certain that if she were to be added to 2XKO, players would see her flying across the screen over and over, combining with her ally and demolishing the enemy with style.
5
Draven
There’s No “I” In Team
The embodiment of ego, Draven is an axe-spinning, money-generating, enemy-demolishing carry that can bully his way through the landing and cause some serious problems in the mid-game with his high damage and aggressive playstyle. His voice lines and character alone could slot into the 2XKO roster, bringing a comedic amount of arrogance and self-obsession already seen in other fighting games.
In League, he is not afraid to run down any player, whether they’re a squishy support or a menacing top-laner, and this could translate well into a different format, with him keeping the axe-juggling mechanic to incentivize perfect movement and punish mistakes severely. His personality speaks for itself and, from a lore standpoint, Draven would certainly love to get down and dirty with the right opponent, so hopefully Riot sees the same vision and puts the executioner into the fray.
4
Fiora
The Perfect Duelist
Fiora is an interesting champion from a gameplay standpoint, as she has some insane 1v1 potential and one of the highest skill ceilings in the entire game. Her kit revolves around movement and careful positioning, targeting weak points on enemy champions and using her high mobility to reposition or make a quick escape when things get too dicey.
Taking all of those tools and throwing them into a tag-fighter would be awesome, as parry mechanics already exist in other fighting games, and precise button inputs are basically the entire skill expression, so she would suit the style and gameplay perfectly. There is even room to bring in a few extra aspects into 2XKO like the supportive nature of her ultimate, healing teammates and herself once popped, which could make for some cool combos and swing plays that change the course of a fight in a matter of seconds.
3
Gnar
A Blast From The Past
In League, there are a select few champions that have transformations or form-swapping capabilities that change the character from ranged to melee, completely altering their playstyle and gameplay. Gnar is the best-designed version of this system, building his mega-meter and swapping into his enlarged form for a short period, granting enhanced stats and a slew of high-damage crowd-control abilities that can devastate enemy players.

When it comes to timeless fighting games that can be enjoyed today, these examples are just the tip of the iceberg.
Fighters are also not strangers to form-swapping or power generation, so taking those core gameplay elements and design and placing them into a tag-fighter could bring a unique set of skills and challenges for both the player and their opponent. With twice as many basic abilities as regular champions, Gnar could quite easily be slotted into a fighting scenario, as controller button combinations make up for the lack of physical inputs found on a keyboard, which would mean he would be able to throw rocks, bounce about, and smash the enemy against the wall with just as much power as in League.
2
Sylas
Killer Of Mages
Sylas introduced a very unique set of balance challenges for the development team at Riot, as his ultimate stealing capabilities added a whole additional layer of depth and complexity to League of Legends and brought plenty of hilarious bugs to go with it. Bug nightmares aside, the power to take other characters’ abilities or skills is incredibly interesting and would be super fun to add to a fighting game.
There are already plenty of interesting and peculiar ultimate abilities, and there are even characters who can take and use the abilities of their opponents. Bringing the chain-swinging mage bruiser over to the fighting genre would not only be a great fit, but also an awesome experience, with so much skill-expression and outplay potential when it comes to tagging specific characters in and out at opportune moments.
1
Yone
One To Cut, One To Seal
The other half to Yasuo, who is already slated to enter the roster, Yone brings a similar yet distinct playstyle from his brother, keeping the samurai theme and swordplay but bringing a more magical and spiritual set of skills that are equally impressive and flashy. Having both wind brothers on the same team would be awesome, with the two playing off of one another and providing some amusing voice lines that highlight their differences yet show their undeniable similarities.
With two swords and a focus on mobility, Yone already tears up the Rift with insanely fast gap closes and hard-to-dodge combos. His constant aggression and persistence would be well-suited to a fighting game environment where players are forced to battle tooth and nail right until their health bar reaches zero.
