Evanescence Teases Involvement In The Devil May Cry Anime on Netflix

The upcoming Devil May Cry anime already has a lot going for it, and now the highly anticipated Netflix show seems to be signaling yet another amazing addition to the video game adaptation, specifically in the audio department.

While the Devil May Cry franchise has seen adaptations aplenty before, fans were still pretty excited to hear that a new animated show was coming from Netflix. With an anime aesthetic and modern, high-definition animation, early teasers for the show have had viewers pretty thrilled for what’s to come. Incredible visuals aside, the show has also set itself up to make a strong impression on viewers’ ears, including some stellar music choices and the untouched final performance of legendary voice actor Kevin Conroy, who unfortunately passed away sometime after the voice recording for the show.

Netflix’s Devil May Cry has already made some great music choices, and now it seems like there’s another soundtrack surprise being teased by a particularly fitting source. The official Evanescence X account and other socials uploaded a video of lead singer Amy Lee counting down with her fingers from three, eschewing the one count for the classic Devil Horns sign. While this was fairly on brand, the real revelation comes in the responses, with both the official Netflix account and Devil May Cry showrunner Adi Shankar responding to the social media posts. While it’s perfectly possible (and plausible) that both Shankar and the Netflix account manager are just massive Evanescence fans, they’ve never been public about it. This means that the more likely explanation is also the most exciting: Evanescence is going to feature on the soundtrack for the upcoming Netflix show.

There Are Few Things More 2000s Than Devil May Cry And Evanescence

This tease is the gift that Devil May Cry fans didn’t know they needed and is so fitting that it almost should have been obvious. Evanescence reached the peak of popularity around the same time that Devil May Cry did, and there’s a massive overlap between fans of the two. With this adaptation set to bring the video game to new audiences while keeping longtime fans happy, the choice to bring the 2000s vibe along would certainly be a great one. Devil May Cry is Netflix’s latest salvo in the video game adaptation wars between streamers, continuing its strategy of winning off of pure numbers. However, it also has the potential to be much more, and it seems that it’s being given the sort of attention that could make all the difference. If the show really is going to feature music from Evanescence, then that’s just another great reason for new and existing fans to tune in to the Netflix show.

It’s not clear what exactly it is fans are going to be getting, as there are no other details available based on the post or responses. The Devil May Cry anime is finally set to release pretty soon, so fans don’t have to wait for long to see the end result.
