Yardley’s Scheme is a Normal Mission in Xenoblade Chronicles X that players can start after finishing the game’s third chapter. To address this mission, which can be initiated by speaking with Yardley in NLA’s Industrial District, players must collect a California sunset and four L-002 space analyzers. This guide is here to help players find those items and complete the Yardley’s Scheme mission in Xenoblade Chronicles X.
Some Xenoblade Chronicles X players have reportedly encountered a bug that prevents them from completing the Yardley’s Scheme mission. This bug seems to occur if a player registers one of the requisite items to the Collectopedia after they have started the quest but before they have turned it in. Players are thus advised to avoid using the Collectopedia in the middle of this Normal Mission, as doing so can cause issues.

Where to Find L-002 Space Analyzers in Xenoblade Chronicles X
L-002 space analyzers are obtained by coming into contact with the small blue diamonds that are scattered across the region of Primordia, though those diamonds will only occasionally award the item that is of interest. While players who are diligent about grabbing diamonds should accumulate enough space analyzers without putting in much effort, the waters and islands just north of the primary landmass are good places to target.
Where to Find California Sunset in Xenoblade Chronicles X
California sunsets can be found in caves throughout the region of Primordia, and they manifest as small blue diamonds with which players must come into contact. While players who have completed Xenoblade Chronicles X‘s Probe-Fessional mission should already have the entrance to one of Primordia’s caves marked on the in-game maps, the following map and images should be useful to players who have not yet tackled that mission.
To note, there is an aggressive tyrant patrolling the area in front of this cave, and it is extremely unlikely that Xenoblade Chronicles X‘s protagonist will be ready to deal with it at this point in the game. Fortunately, players who run directly to the cave’s entrance should be able to get inside without starting a fight, and it is recommended that they do exactly that.
Similarly, the cave within which California sunsets can be found is filled with aggressive high-level indigen at night. If a player has arrived after the sun has gone down, it is recommended that they take these actions to advance to daytime and return the creatures to a docile state:
- Press “+” to open the menu.
- Select “System.”
- Select “Change Time.”
- Set the target time to a time that is between 05:00 and 19:00.
Return to Yardley
After collecting a California sunset and four L-002 space analyzers, players should deliver the items to Yardley in the Industrial District. Upon performing that action, players will find that they have completed this Normal Mission in Xenoblade Chronicles X and have earned the associated rewards: 100 Experience.
