Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes the long-running franchise to feudal Japan, letting players explore two distinct playstyles through two separate protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke. While the game still features the same old stealth and action-based gameplay, players can also encounter plenty of optional content to keep themselves busy as they explore the lush landscape.
Dubbed Shadows_Projects, the game features two distinct Battle Passes that give you the chance to nab some nice rewards completely for free. The only requirement is to put in some elbow grease, which fans of the genre never seem to mind. In this guide, we’ll explain all there is to know about the Battle Pass system in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Battle Pass System Explained
The Battle Pass in Assassin’s Creed Shadows is split into two completely separate tracks: The Legacy and Awakening. You can access it by navigating to the main menu and holding down the Menu button on Xbox, touchpad on PlayStation, or pressing F1 on the PC. This will open up the Animus Menu, where you’ll find the two Battle Passes.
The Legacy Battle Pass is tied to Naoe, while the Awakening is designed for Yasuke. Completing either Battle Pass rewards a Legendary Armor Set for that character. Both Battle Passes have 21 levels, and progressing through each level gives you a different reward for hitting that milestone.
You can only progress one Battle Pass at a time, but you’re free to switch between them at any point without losing any of your current progress.

How to Level Up the AC Shadows Battle Pass
To level up your Battle Pass, you’ll need to complete Anomalies, which are a series of weekly objectives. Each week, four new Anomaly quests become available, each rewarding 700 Data Fragments upon completion. These Data Fragments are what you’ll use to progress through the Battle Pass levels.
Collecting 600 Data Fragments will grant you one level in the Battle Pass.
To access Anomalies, you’ll need to open the Animus and navigate to the Anomalies Menu. Quests range from basic tasks like defeating a set number of Samurais or collecting a certain amount of Mon (currency) to more complex objectives like mining Echoes or purging Corrupted Entities.
However, you won’t have access to these quests right from the start. First, you’ll need to progress through The Wounded questline until you reach the Heads Will Roll quest. During this mission, as you go to speak to Kyonyo on the dirt path east of Amagasaki Castle, you’ll encounter an Animus Portal. Interact with it to trigger a short sequence inside the Animus. Once it ends, you’ll return to Japan and gain access to the Anomalies Objectives in your quest menu.
You can now complete Anomalies objectives as you play through the game to earn Data Fragments. The Battle Pass you have set as active in your Animus Menu will steadily gain levels as you complete more and more Anomalies in the game.
The gear obtained from the battle passes scale up to the player’s level when you claim them.
The best part about the Battle Pass system in Assassin’s Creed Shadows is that it never gets in the way. Most Anomalies objectives will be completed naturally as you play. Just remember to open up the Animus Menu from time to time to track your progress and claim your rewards.
