There are many side quests and affinity missions for players to complete in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition. They are scattered all over the place, but quite a few begin in New Los Angeles. Not every side quest unlocks all at once, and some gradually unlock as you progress through the story.
The objectives for side quests vary along with the length. Some will require you to complete several steps while others are simple fetch quests. While the Mamma Mia quest is a simple fetch quest, the trick is that you have to make sure that you are purchasing the right items, or you will just be wasting money. Here is how you can complete Mamma Mia.

How to Start Mamma Mia! in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition
This side quest doesn’t unlock until you’ve completed the third chapter of the story. Once you’ve done this, you will need to speak to Mia. To reach her, head to the northwest part of the Administrative District and look for a spot where you can see an incomplete bridge that leads toward a platform with a large crane.
Carefully walk across the metal beams, take a right toward the crane and walk past it. You will find Mia on the other side of the crane. Talk to her to start this quest. Unlike some quests, there are no other prerequisites to start Mamma Mia.
Mamma Mia! Walkthrough
Mia is tired of being rejected from BLADE, and she has decided to take matters into her own hands to get out of New LA. But to do that, she will need armor and some weapons. To help her out with this, head to the Shop Terminal in Armory Alley.
Open the terminal and select Weapons. Then go to Dual Swords and purchase Iron Blades for 2,700 credits. Next, you will need to buy Combat Bodywear from the Protective Wear category. This will cost 21,000 credits.
Mia only needs the one piece of armor, so don’t bother wasting money on anything else like leg or arm armor.
When you have both items, head back to Mia and talk to her. She will ask you what your name is, but your choice doesn’t matter. At this point, Mia runs off on her adventure, and you gain the following rewards:
- 150 Experience
- 8,000 Credits
- School Blazer
Completing this side quest will also increase your Survey Rate for the Administrative District along with Mira.
