Where to Get Glowing Orbs in MH Wilds

When it comes to making character builds in Monster Hunter Wilds, wearing the right pieces of armor isn’t enough. The decorations players equip on their gear are just as important as the items themselves, which is why farming for Glowing Orbs should be something that every hunter should have on their to-do lists.

The endgame of MH Wilds all boils down to fighting monsters and making the strongest builds possible. For the latter, you’ll need to get the right decorations for your gear, and that means you’ll need to get as many Glowing Orbs (and their counterparts) as you can.

What Are Glowing Orbs in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Glowing Orbs are appraisal items that automatically get converted into decorations (otherwise known as skill jewels) after a hunt. They’re obtained by fighting any High Rank monster, though some sources reward more orbs compared to others.

Keep in mind that Glowing Orbs are Rarity 5 appraisal items. When appraised, they usually turn into level 1 or 2 decorations. They aren’t necessarily worse than level 3 decorations, but do note that skills and jewel levels are tied. You won’t find any level 3 Maximum Might jewels, nor will you find level 2 Weakness Exploit jewels.

Decorations in MH Wilds are divided into two categories: Sword and Armor. The former are exclusive to weapons, while the latter are only for armor pieces.

As mentioned, players will receive these items as rewards from hunting High Rank monsters. All monsters seem to drop Glowing Orbs, though it seems they drop more often when fighting Tier 1 enemies like Balahara, Quematrice, Lala Barina, and other monsters with a similar power level.

It’s almost always better to hunt monsters roaming in the environment. They usually have more rewards to offer, and some may even give players guaranteed rare monster drops like Wyvern Gems. Check the Environment Overview menu on your map or hover over a monster on the map itself to see what items you’ll get by hunting them.

Additionally, event quests like Tongue-Tied or Sand-Scarred Soul reward more orbs than usual. If you ever want to farm for more decorations, then taking these missions on might be worth your while.

If you have an abundance of decorations, you can go to the Melding Pot in Suja (which unlocks after doing the HR story) to get even more decorations. Here, you can either convert unwanted skill jewels into new ones or use Melding Tickets to get a fresh batch of decorations without fighting anything.
