In his mind, the final saga would’ve likely begun four years after the serialization began. Oda even spoke of his plans for the Final Saga in 1999, which is staggering, to say the least. Unfortunately for the author, one thing led to another and One Piece became a mammoth of a series that it is today. Regardless, in the end, fans didn’t arrive at the Final Saga after the conclusion of the Wano Country arc and now, the biggest stage of One Piece has been set.
