The original Mass Effect trilogy launched between 2007 and 2012, and all three were instantly regarded as some of the best sci-fi games of all time. Choices carried between games and actually seemed to massively impact the story that players would experience, unlike other RPGs where an illusion of choice was prevalent. It was an impressive feat from BioWare, and the games’ immense popularity eventually resulted in 2021’s Mass Effect Legendary Edition. This gave the three titles a small remaster, and put them all into one convenient collection.

It remains at full price on Xbox consoles but can also be played on EA Play for those with a subscription.

BioWare has been teasing the next Mass Effect game for a few years now. The series has been on hiatus since the mixed response to 2017’s Mass Effect: Andromeda, but it’s no secret that a new game is on the way. Despite the teases from the studio, there’s very little concrete information about the game, which has inevitably led to plenty of fan speculation over the years. Many fans wonder if the game will see the return of Commander Shepard, or if it will be focused on another character entirely. Fans will just have to remain patient, as the game still seems to quite a long while away at this point.
