Riot Games announces LoL MSI 2025 venue location
According to a blog post by the game publisher, the second international tournament of the year will take place at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver. From June 27 to July 12, the best 10 teams across the five major regions will square off to determine which team will become the MSI champion and lock a spot for Worlds 2025.
Located at Hastings Park in Vancouver, the venue was previously used in the 2017 League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) Spring Finals and offers a seating capacity of around 15,000 people, which is slightly lower than the O2 arena in London, the venue for the grand final for Worlds 2024.
Tickets will be available for purchase starting on March 27 (Wave 1) and May 29 (Wave 2) at 5pm CET. For Mastercard users, instead, cardholders will be available to get them on presale on March 26 (Wave 1) and May 28 (Wave 2) at the same time.
MSI starting later in 2025
Compared to previous years, the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) will be kicking off at a later date given the addition of the new international tournament, First Stand, which took place in mid-March in South Korea. The winning team from each major region took part in the event, with Karmine Corp, Hanhwa Life Esports (HLE), Top Esports (TES), Team Liquid (TL), and CTBC Flying Oyster (LCP) competing for the trophy.
In the end, it was the home team HLE that won the tournament in dominant fashion. Aside from the international trophy, the team also won $300,000 of the $1 million prize pool available.
Last week, Global Head of Esports Chris Greeley also revealed that the upcoming international tournaments for the 2025 season will feature bigger prize pools. MSI will be distributing $2.5 million to the participating teams while Worlds 2025 will be contending $5 million.
