How To Unlock Rooms in Ale & Tale Tavern
Players won’t have immediate access to rooms in Ale & Tale Tavern. First, they will need to level up their tavern rank. Rooms unlock at level 12, so players are in for a bit of a grind before they can start offering places of rest to travelers. Keep serving food and beverages as much as possible to earn XP and level up through tavern ranks.
Focus on high-quality or more advanced foods when selling them to travelers to receive more XP. Serve advanced foods over basic ones to make grinding as efficient as possible.
When players hit level 12, the ropes barring access to the stairs will disappear. At that point, players can start renting the four rooms to travelers.

How To Set Up A Room in Ale & Tale Tavern To Make Money
Four main variables can determine how much money a player’s room can earn every time a traveler uses the room. They include:
- Bed and Bed Sheets
- Bedroom Serving Table
- Decorations/Furniture
- Dishes
Having a bed is an essential piece of furniture in Ale & Tale Tavern. Travelers won’t want to stay in the room if they don’t have a bed to use. Players must purchase a bed and bedsheets from the merchant outside the tavern. To set up the room, simply select the bed in the hotkey UI, and a green array will appear. Players can’t arrange the rooms too much, since the bed and the bedroom serving table have specific areas where players can place them.
A bed costs 350 gold at the merchant, while bedsheets cost 100 gold.
Once the bed is in place, players will need to take the bedsheets and tuck the bed in by interacting with it. Now, at this point, players could technically open up the room for service. However, this basic room will only grant the player one star with a low rental price of around 500 gold.
Adding a bedroom serving table can increase the room’s value. Like the bed, it has a specific area in the room where players can put it. The serving table has two slots where players can place food or beverages for the traveler to enjoy during their stay. By putting any type of food or beverage onto the serving table, the room’s price will automatically jump up to around 700 gold and become a two-star room.

Adding decoration or furniture is another step to making a room more valuable. For example, out in the wild, players can come across boxes and barrels. Breaking these boxes and barrels can sometimes drop a painting. Players can hang a painting in a bedroom to increase the rental price. Doing so can typically bring a room’s value up to around 1,300 gold. It also makes the room qualify as a three-star place to rest.
Decorations and furniture do not stack. Putting more paintings in the same bedroom, for example, will not increase the room’s value further.
How To Maximize A Room’s Profit in Ale & Tale Tavern
A three-star room can earn players between 1,300 and 2,000 gold each time a traveler stays there. However, there’s one extra detail that can make players earn anywhere from 2,500 gold to over 3,000 gold for each stay.
Considering that there are four rooms in the tavern, a player could earn anywhere from 10,000 gold to 12,400 gold in a very short amount of time.
The trick to maximizing a room’s profit in Ale & Tale Tavern is to serve assorted seafood to guests. Thus far, assorted seafood is the most expensive dish players can sell to patrons. Besides selling for 500 gold to a diner, it also earns players 500 XP every time it’s served.
Making Seafood Dishes In Ale & Tale Tavern
Similar to most cooking games, players will need access to a cooking pot to make the assorted seafood dishes. The recipe is as follows:
- 5 Crab Meat
- 5 Fresh Trout
- 5 Fresh Crucian
Making a lot of assorted seafood is advisable since players will want to sell it to diners and those looking to stay in a bedroom to make the most money possible. Since there are two slots on the bedroom serving table for each room, players will need at least eight assorted seafood dishes to satisfy room guests.
After serving the dish, a room’s value should increase to between 2,500 and 3,100 gold. In addition, the room should give players over 1,000 XP each time a traveler uses the room.
Players must clean the dirty sheets after a guest has finished with the room. Sheets are reusable but must be washed in the washing machine, which players can purchase at the merchant for 3,000 gold. Players must also restock the serving table with new assorted seafood dishes each time.
Ale & Tale Tavern may be all about the food and drinks, but players who sleep on the room rental feature could be missing some crazy profit and XP farming. By filling those rooms with assorted seafood, players will likely have far more wealth than they know what to do with.
