The newest teaser trailer from Genshin Impact is giving fans a first look at one of the new characters coming in Version 5.5, showing off the story behind Varesa. With just a few days left until Version 5.5’s release, HoYoverse has given fans plenty to be excited about from the massively popular open-world RPG’s next update. Version 5.5 will introduce a brand-new area to Natlan with the Great Volcano of Tollan, alongside multiple new events, new Artifacts, and more. Now, the developer is showcasing Version 5.5’s new five-star character.
Genshin Impact‘s Version 5.5 is set to introduce one new five-star unit to the gacha RPG with its release. Varesa will debut as the game’s newest five-star character, hailing from Natlan’s Collective of Plenty tribe and coming as an Electro character. Varesa is expected to debut within Genshin Impact‘s roster as a heavily DPS-focused character with an emphasis on Plunging Attacks, featuring several buffs focused around increasing her resistance to interruptions. A new teaser trailer is now giving players a closer look at Varesa’s story.

Genshin Impact‘s newest trailer, titled “Varesa: The Legend of a Warrior,” gives players an early teaser of Varesa’s personality and story. The trailer shows Varesa arriving at a restaurant in Natlan, overhearing a story from two young children about a masked “bull-horned hero” saving them from Hilichurls. The story segments of the trailer feature an animated style reminiscent of older cartoons, showing Varesa using her Electro powers to fight back the Hilichurls and a Mitachurl. Varesa is scheduled to debut with the launch of Genshin Impact‘s Version 5.5 update, set to release early next week on March 26.
New Genshin Impact Trailer Teases Varesa
The lead-up to Version 5.5 is expected to include plenty more teasers for Varesa in anticipation of her full release. HoYoverse typically releases two full trailers for its newest five-star units, both featuring a “Character Teaser” centered around the character’s story and a “Character Demo” showing off gameplay. Varesa will also not be the only new character releasing during the Version 5.5 update, with four-star unit Iansan joining Varesa on her release banner. Iansan was the first Natlan character revealed by Genshin Impact, first shown back in the “Travail” trailer shortly following the game’s launch.
The addition of Varesa to Genshin Impact comes as HoYoverse has already started to tease some future characters coming to the game. The Special Program for Version 5.5 introduced players to Ifa as a new Natlan character, with Ifa set to play a major role within the update’s main story. HoYoverse has also hinted at several future characters set to eventually come to the roster, teasing upcoming cast members like Skirk and Effie. Genshin Impact‘s Version 5.5 looks to have lots in store between new characters, new story and a brand-new corner of Natlan to explore.
