Summary

  • The perfect warrior in Dragon Ball has ideal defense and offense, but has not yet been revealed.
  • Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego showcase ultimate defense and offense techniques respectively.
  • The Grand Priest is considered the current perfect warrior, surpassing all Angels’ strength.

Ever since the start of the Dragon Ball franchise, Martial Arts and the need to get stronger have been the central pillars of the story. While Goku started his journey as a strange young boy who was mostly a recluse to society, he quickly rose in power to become one of his universe’s greatest protectors with some of the greatest feats of strength ever seen in existence.

However, there are still a lot of areas where he needs to improve. Because of this, the concept of the perfect warrior has been thrown around a lot in the Dragon Ball series as someone with the greatest defense and offense who can defeat just about anyone else in a battle. So, in this article, let’s go over what the perfect warrior could mean and which characters in the series come closest to attaining this title.

The Perfect Warrior In Dragon Ball

Who’s The Greatest Fighter?

As stated previously, the perfect warrior in the series would be someone without any wasted movements or aspects of their arsenal. Every single thing about this supposed fighter would be ideal so as to allow them to have the best defense and offense needed in order to defeat just about any opponent set in front of them. With this in mind, the likely scenario is that such a warrior hasn’t been shown in the franchise yet.

However, many do come close. In Super, Destroyer Gods and Angels were shown for the first time, who were so powerful that they left everyone else in the series in the dust. Furthermore, the Angels possessed an ability known as Ultra Instinct, which provided the user with the best defense imaginable, as the body essentially gained a mind of its own which allowed it to evade all harm by itself. The main advantage of this technique is that the user doesn’t need to waste any time dodging, allowing them to focus everything on their next attack.

Power comes in response to a need, not a desire. You have to create that need.

Goku became the first mortal in the series to unlock this form, which many believed placed him as the perfect warrior. However, it was later explained that there are degrees to Ultra Instinct’s effectiveness and that Goku’s version was still at the bottom, which meant that, if the opponent was fast enough, they could counteract Ultra Instinct’s power, as was seen with Granolah and Gohan Beast. Plus, his offense was a bit lacking compared to some others in the series.

On the flip side of this, Vegeta unlocked his own Divine Transformation which he named Ultra Ego. Contrary to Ultra Instinct, this technique provides the greatest offense one can have in the series since it converts all damage taken to strength that makes the user’s next attack even stronger. While its offensive power is second to none, the method of getting stronger proved to be incredibly unsustainable.

This brings fans to Beerus, whom they believe to be as close to the perfect warrior that has existed in the series so far. For one, Beerus has incredible defensive capabilities since he can also use Ultra Instinct to an extent, although his accuracy with it is below even that of Goku’s. However, being a God of Destruction, he has mastered the Destroyer’s inherent technique of Ultra Ego and possesses destructive power that is perhaps the most potent, even among his God of Destruction contemporaries.

On the other hand, many fans believe that Gogeta and Vegito would be the true inheritors of this title if Goku and Vegeta were to fuse in the current setting. With the Prince’s natural affinity for the destruction power of the Destroyers and Goku’s calm state of mind allowing him to perfect Ultra Instinct, the merger of these two powerhouses would birth a character with comparative destructive powers to Beerus but with superior Ultra Instinct, making him the closest thing to the perfect warrior in Dragon Ball.

Story Arc

As of the current moment, the being who fits the title of the perfect warrior is none other than the father of all the Angels; the Grand Priest. While even the weakest Angel is likely far stronger than the strongest God of Destruction, the differences between their accuracy with Ultra Instinct prove to be the greatest factor that determines how powerful they are compared to one another.

Vados was stronger than Whis when they were younger, though it is vague as to how they stand now. Because of this, Whis stated that the Grand Priest has the best Ultra Instinct in the multiverse, which puts him on top of all the Angels by default. While he likely can’t use the Energy of Destruction, his defense and offense are powerful enough to put him above just about everyone else.

Dragon Ball can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
