Dark Souls Remastered is getting a seamless co-op mode, which is currently in development by a popular modder. The upcoming add-on should completely transform Dark Souls Remastered into a co-op-first experience.
The mod in question is being developed by Yui, a well-known modder who previously expanded on a variety of FromSoftware games. One of their most recent projects was a seamless co-op mod for Dark Souls 3, which was uploaded to Nexus Mods on February 24, 2025.

Following the reveal of the spin-off multiplayer title Elden Ring: Nightreign, it’s become apparent that FromSoftware has taken after one mod.
Yui is now following up on that project with a seamless co-op mod for the critically acclaimed Dark Souls Remastered. The modder recently provided an update on the project via their Patreon page, stating that the add-on is currently “nearing completion.” In terms of testing, Yui has already managed to complete several Dark Souls Remastered playthroughs using the mod and encountered few issues along the way. The modder noted that the handful of bugs that did arise during testing have already been fixed, adding that the seamless co-op mod is otherwise looking stable.
Yui’s Dark Souls Remastered Seamless Co-Op Mod Key Features
- Persisting multiplayer even after teleports, death, boss kills, etc.
- No multiplayer boundaries
- Full progress synchronisation toggle
- PvP invasions
- Optional difficulty modifiers for enemy health, damage, and friendly fire
Yui’s latest Dark Souls seamless co-op mod will also fix a number of multiplayer bugs that exist in the vanilla version of the 2018 remaster, the creator said, albeit without clarifying what these issues actually are. The modder also shared some brief gameplay footage from the mod, illustrating how seamless co-op will work in the game. The video underlines how the mod will make Dark Souls Remastered playable from start to finish in a single multiplayer session, with player summons persisting through death, boss kills, teleports, and other events that would normally end cooperative gameplay in the vanilla version of the game.
As of late March 2025, “the overwhelming majority of the mod is complete and now it’s just a case of testing and adding some finishing touches,” Yui said. However, the developer still isn’t ready to commit to a concrete release window just yet. Yui’s add-ons have historically taken several months from the start of development to the version 1.0 release. For instance, their Elden Ring seamless co-op mod was released on May 27, 2022, just two days following the game’s three-month anniversary. This upcoming Dark Souls Remastered add-on hence seems likely to materialize no later than summer 2025.

Transforming Dark Souls Remastered into a fully cooperative experience could breathe new life into the popular remaster, prompting some PC players to revisit the ARPG. The ability to experience the entire game in co-op is also bound to make it more accessible, allowing players to rely on others to carry them through the more difficult non-boss sections.
