Monster Hunter Wilds features a wide variety of healing items that the Hunter can gather on their adventures through the Forbidden Island. While you may not face much need for extensive healing in the Low Ranks, once you reach the High Ranks, you’ll have to make sure you have all the healing items that you’ll need before heading on a survey.

Some of these healing items are far more exceptional than the rest and some items, which you might not even believe, can be used for healing and are far better than your average potion. Whether you’re playing solo or with friends, you should know all about your healing options on the field.

First-Aid Med
First-Aid Med is given to you as supplies whenever you start a quest. These items are similar to basic potions, except that these meds automatically disappear from your inventory after the quest is completed, so you can feel free to use them without worrying about hoarding them.
This healing item doesn’t restore a lot of HP, but because you get it at the start of every hunt, you always have access to it through your Seikret’s pouch, even if you forget to bring your potions on the hunt.
First-Aid Med can be turned into First-Aid Med+ by collecting honey from the environment. The First-Aid Med+ heals a lot more HP than regular First-Aid Meds.

Mega Potion
Mega Potions are your bread and butter for healing in most cases. These items can heal a ton of HP but require a short amount of time to heal the Hunter completely. It’s usually quite difficult to heal yourself fully with a Mega Potion during the battle, but you can do it if the monster is attacking someone else.
You can also ride on your Seikret and heal yourself with a Mega Potion. This will allow you to dodge certain attacks and heal yourself fully. Mega Potions can also be upgraded from regular potions if you collect any honey from the area.

Sushifish Scale
The Sushifish Scale can be purchased from merchants and can also be gathered by fishing for certain fishes, such as the Sushifish. Sushifish scale can immediately heal for a short amount of HP on consumption.

The Sushifish scale is a great way to heal yourself against aggressive monsters, especially Tempered ones, because you don’t have to worry about getting hit during healing with Mega Potions or First-Aid Meds.

Great Sushifish Scale
The Great Sushifish Scale is a rarer version of the Sushifish Scale, and it heals your HP by a large amount on consumption immediately. Great Sushifish Scale is an excellent way to heal yourself when you’re in a pinch.
This healing item is always worth keeping in your inventory in case you’re one hit away from death and your Palico isn’t healing you right away, you can rely on the Great Sushifish Scale to heal your HP immediately.
Both the Sushifish Scale and the Great Sushifish Scale can be gathered by fishing for the Sushifish in certain bodies of water around the map, such as the pond in the Scarlet Forest base camp.

Lifepowder
Lifepowder is a great support item that allows you to heal yourself and your allies who are in proximity to you. This healing item heals immediately for a short amount of HP and is a great item to bring on co-op hunts.
Not only is it a great item to use on the hunt with your friends, but it is also an excellent item to use while playing solo. You can use the Lifepowder to heal yourself immediately when you don’t have a Sushifish Scale in your inventory.

Dust Of Life
Dust Of Life is an enhanced version of the Lifepowder, and it immediately heals a large chunk of your HP on consumption. You can also heal your allies with it during co-op hunts, but due to its rarity, it’s fairly difficult to acquire, and you’ll have to use it wisely.

Similar to Lifepowder, you can also use it while playing solo when you don’t have anything better than a Mega Potion to heal yourself immediately during challenging hunts in the High Ranks.

Max Potion
Max Potion is an incredible healing item as it completely heals you immediately and also temporarily increases your maximum HP. Furthermore, you can craft it in your tent so you don’t have to worry about its limited supply. The Max Potion is a life-saver and should be your go-to item for healing in the High Ranks.
The Max Potion is easily the best form of healing on regular hunts in the late game, and you should always keep a few in your inventory, in case you encounter Arkveld running wild in the middle of your adventures.

Ancient Potion
The only item that’s better than the one that completely heals your HP immediately and increases your maximum HP, is the Ancient Potion, which not only heals your entire HP bar but also grants you increased maximum HP and Stamina for a limited duration.
The Ancient Potion is extremely rare though, and should be used with caution. Regardless of rarity, if the situation calls for it, the Ancient Potion is the best healing item in the game and more.
