BioWare released a new weapon set for Dragon Age: The Veilguard that players can claim for free on PC. One of the biggest fantasy RPGs of 2024, Dragon Age: The Veilguard was released last fall to somewhat of a mixed response. While it ultimately landed in the low to mid 80s for Xbox and PlayStation on Metacritic, dipping down to a 76 for PC, many felt that Dragon Age: The Veilguard was ultimately missing the BioWare magic of old that made games like the Mass Effect trilogy and the earlier Dragon Age entries so special.
Despite the respectable Metacritic scores and selling 1.5 million copies as of January, it has been reported that Dragon Age: The Veilguard fell short of publisher EA’s lofty expectations. This has led to an unfortunate round of layoffs at BioWare that reportedly wiped out the entire Dragon Age team and left fewer than 100 employees at the studio. On top of that, all post-launch support for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, aside from bug fixes, has been scrapped. The game is currently sitting at a heavy 50% discount on Steam, making it available for just $30.

Elder Scrolls 6 and Avowed Share a Strength that Dragon Age: The Veilguard Missed Out On
Avowed and the upcoming The Elder Scrolls 6 both have one major advantage that BioWare’s 2024 RPG, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, lacked.
It seems a small amount of Dragon Age: The Veilguard‘s cut post-launch content is making it out the door as free DLC for PC players. On Steam, the “Rook’s Weapons Appearance Offer,” has gone live for download at no additional cost. The DLC’s description mentions that the offer will only be available until April 9, and will automatically appear in-game for those who purchase Dragon Age: The Veilguard. As for the items included, the bundle is comprised of five weapons: a dagger, bow, shield, sword, and maul, each decorated with creepy dark eye-like postules.

Since the bundle is only available for PC players on Steam, it would be fair to wonder whether the weapon pack will make its way to Xbox and PlayStation gamers at some point as well. Though seeing that this seems to be a limited-time offer, it might end up being a Steam-only deal, especially considering Dragon Age: The Veilguard isn’t discounted on consoles at the moment. Since this bundle was released after BioWare ended post-launch support for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, it likely means work on these weapons was finished before support was cut. If true, this begs whether BioWare could have more finished, vaulted post-launch bundles like this one that it could release as free DLC in the future.
With the Rook’s Weapons bundle only available until April 9, Dragon Age: The Veilguard players on Steam should take advantage of the deal before it ends. The game’s 50% off Steam sale is running until March 27, so Steam gamers who are interested in BioWare’s latest fantasy RPG can grab both the game and the new weapons bundle in one fell swoop before the discount ends.
