Summary
- News of a potential remake of Persona 4 coming before Persona 6 seems to have divided the fanbase.
- On one hand, you have many arguing that Persona 4 doesn’t need a remake, and that Atlus should be focusing on new games instead.
- On the other, you have many thrilled about the idea of Persona 4 getting tweaked and a nice graphics update. I’ll just be sat here crying about Persona 2.
Persona 6 has been on the wishlist of a lot of Persona fans for quite some time, what with Persona 5 having first launched almost a decade ago (time is a endless march and there’s nothing we can do about it). With the release of Persona 3 Reload and the excellent Metaphor: ReFantazio in 2024, many fans believed that this now gives Atlus the perfect opportunity to give Persona 6 the time and marketing it deserves.
Unfortunately for some, a new domain name (p4re.jp) was discovered earlier this week, which seems to indicate that Persona 6 may not actually be the next game on the docket, and that a remake of Persona 4 is actually up next. You’d assume that would be met with universal applause, given it’s arguably the fan-favorite game, but the reactions are very mixed.
Persona Fans Are Arguing Over Whether Persona 4 Actually Needs A Remake
Persona Fans Are Experiencing Heartbreak, Heartbreak
You don’t need to look very hard on social media to find reactions from Persona fans like Twitter user Jack_Luminous, who is already rather sick of Atlus focusing on remakes over new experiences, claiming that even “a mediocre Persona 6 would be far more interesting” to them than a remake of a game they’ve already played.

Just in time for the next big Atlus adventure, I finally understand Persona 5
Another user called SuperButterBuns even argues that Persona 4 doesn’t even need a remake at the moment, and hopes that Atlus actually does go ahead and release Persona 6 beforehand, otherwise their “general mood towards Atlus” will sour. It’s not a uncommon viewpoint either, with a lot of people now worrying this domain means the wait for Persona 6 may be longer than we initially thought.
On the other hand, you have people thrilled that one of the more problematic Persona games in the series is finally being revisited (and presumably tweaked), and getting a nice graphics update to boot. It’s a topic that has certainly divided opinion, and we should know whether Atlus has any plans for Persona 6 or a Persona 4 remake this summer, which is when any projects will likely be announced.
