March Madness may be in full swing, but Amazon doesn’t want to leave all the NBA fans out in the cold. The retailer has NBA 2K25 at a massive discount, pricing it at just $20 for every console edition.
The most recent NBA sim is normally listed at $70 on everything but the Nintendo Switch where it goes for $60. So seeing the game on sale at $50 off ($40 off on Switch) is truly a steal. Especially when NBA 2K26 isn’t planned to arrive for about another six months.

ProPlay Technology Raises the Game
The latest iteration of the NBA 2K series saw a substantial boost in gameplay over its predecessors. 2K24 introduced a new technology dubbed ProPlay. With it, Visual Concepts takes actual NBA footage and translates the real on-court action directly into in-game animations. In 2K25, the ProPlay tech was utilized to add over 9,000 new animations over 2K24. Visual Concepts says that number includes 1,100 signature shot animations, 1,300 new off-the-ball animations, and 150 new signature motion styles.
Thanks to the ProPlay tech, NBA 2K25 also includes a brand-new dribble engine. The developers note it’s “the biggest change to our gameplay engine in years”. It’s not just dribbling though, there are a bunch of significant new features that make the basketball experience more realistic. On offense, players can now take advantage of shot canceling, shot timing profiles, custom visual cues, and pro stick rhythm shooting too.
ProPlay technology is only included in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of NBA 2K25.
There are upgrades on the defensive side of the ball this year too. There’s a new defensive cutoff system that allows players to dynamically change direction with the right stick. It allows you to laterally slide into position to put the brakes on a driving offensive player. Visual Concepts implemented an overhaul of its shot contest system as well to give it a more realistic feel. Instead of judging a player’s shot at the release, the game now incorporates the defense leading up to the shot to better evaluate how difficult it should be.
There are plenty of other tweaks and additions that make 2K25 one of the best basketball games yet. AI has been molded to provide spacing, offense, defense, and coaching that is better molded to mirror an actual NBA game. Tutorials are available in-game to get you accustomed to the new additions to this year’s game.
MyTeam and MyCareer are back as they traditionally always are. On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the latter is built around a brand-new city to explore with your custom character. However, you may want to grab yourself some Virtual Currency if you’re truly hoping to keep up with the ballers you meet on the street.
Odds are you won’t find NBA 2K25 any lower than the $10 sticker price it’s at right now. At $50 off on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, now is the best time for any NBA fan to shoot their shot and grab a copy of the game.
