You won’t see Mana Confrontations for a while in Atelier Yumia. They don’t sprout up in the game’s vast open world until a certain point. And that’s a very good thing, indeed, as even with the ease at which EXP can be accrued in this game, they still demand a notably higher level than the paltry digits you’ll begin with.

Mana Confrontations offer some of the ultimate challenges within Atelier Yumia. They’ll test your party’s readiness, and – on Very Hard – your own personal resolution. Although we still have a good deal to learn about Mana Confrontations, ourselves, consider this a primer on the mechanic.

What Are Mana Confrontations?
A bit of a ways into Atelier Yumia’s story, you will begin to encounter strange, followable, red lines throughout the overworld. You’ll know them when you see them, trust us – although we do have an image above for good measure. They will not appear until a certain point.
Based on our experience, it seems the point at which Mana Confrontations take place may be linked to obtaining the Mana Surge at level 50. The jury’s still out, so we’ll update this when we can.
In any case, Mana Confrontations. What are they? Put simply, they’re optional battles against notably powered-up monsters. The rewards are significant; rare synthesis materials galore, as well as particles and ample EXP and Skill Points.
How tough are they? Well, on Normal difficulty, not terribly. But the harder ones – difficulty is displayed for you before you accept the fights – can be quite challenging on Atelier Yumia’s highest level, which is Very Hard.
Getting yourself into these fights is easy enough. Simply follow those red lines, once you see them, and they’ll bring you to boulder-like objects which can be interacted with to commence the showdowns. You’ll select ‘Yes’ to ‘Commence Rift Scan?’ when ready.
Be sure to heal up with bandages before engaging. The most significant thing we aim to update this guide with once we’re more familiar with Mana Confrontations is a running list of the most difficult fights, and the rewards therein.
