Assassin’s Creed Shadows isn’t lacking in castles and other locations with loot to find and important targets to hunt down. Miki Castle, like many of the other castles spread across Japan, is home to a Legendary Chest, along with a group of Samurai Daisho guarding it. You must find all four Samurai Daisho in Miki Castle to earn the legendary loot inside the red chest.

Ubisoft Reportedly Has A Plan To Protect Devs From Harassment When Assassin’s Creed Shadows Launches

Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched this week, and Ubisoft has reportedly already put a plan in place to protect devs from harassment.

While you’re free to hack through the castle using Yasuke’s raw strength, we’ll be taking you through things relying on Naoe’s stealthy approach to silently kill the Samurai Daisho in Miki Castle.

Where Is Miki Castle?

Miki Castle is in the center of Miki, a small dangerous town you’ll find in Harima. The Miki Kakurega is the closest fast travel point, just west of your destination.

Be sure your tools are refilled before entering, as you might need to put some of them to use if things don’t go to plan in this area.

This area has four Samurai Daisho, so prepare for some careful, extensive maneuvering.

How To Find & Assassinate The First Samurai Daisho

Approach Miki Castle from the southwestern corner of the castle and enter by scaling the wall to the left. This puts you in a higher vantage point with a great view of a large section of the castle.

Head to the northwestern courtyard in Miki Castle where there’s a large partially built structure – this is where you’ll find the first Samurai Daisho.

Unfortunately, this first Daisho is well-accompanied, so you’ll be best served to circle to your right along the wall on the outskirts of the castle until you’re over on the same side as the first Samurai Daisho.

Clear out the two guards near the unfinished house, climb across the wire onto the roof above where the Samurai Daisho is standing, and air assassinate him.

How To Find & Assassinate The Second Samurai Daisho

Cross over into the central portion of Miki Castle by climbing on top of the barred door, then look across to the central area.

You’ll see the second Samurai Daisho in this second courtyard in the center, with guards mainly positioned along the left side.

Much like the first area’s Samurai Daisho, this one is easiest to isolate by circling along the perimeter to get within reach.

Here’s how to pull off a silent assassination:

  1. Get to the top of the house in the center of the area
  2. Use a Shinobi Bell to distract the guard looking in your direction
  3. Assassinate the Samurai Daisho and bolt

Alternatively, you can lure the Samurai Daisho to the quiet, secluded side of the house with a Shinobi Bell and finish him off there. This is much less risky.

How To Find & Assassinate The Third Samurai Daisho

The third Samurai Daisho is in the courtyard directly to the south of the central courtyard where you encounter the second Daisho.

Run along the roofs separating the courtyards from each other, and creep around toward the right side, behind where the Samurai Daisho and his guards are gathering.

The third Daisho is even more heavily guarded than the last, with four people around him.

If you don’t want to take down this Daisho silently, then you can fight the guards and Daisho without alerting the rest of the castle if you sabotage the bell adjacent to the small staging area.

Take them down by executing the following steps:

  1. Hide in the bush and kill the guard patrolling in the back
  2. Drop a smoke bomb then kill the Samurai Daisho
  3. Immediately throw another smoke bomb (unless you’re using the extended smoke bomb duration skill)
  4. Fight or Flight:
    1. Attack the guards, aiming to assassinate them under the shroud of your smoke bomb
    2. Disappear into the bushes as soon as you can

How To Find & Assassinate The Fourth Samurai Daisho

The fourth and final Samurai Daisho is in the courtyard to the far east in Miki Castle.

The best way to reach this area is by dropping into the trenches separating each courtyard, and jumping up onto the small roof leading into the next courtyard.

The first person to get rid of is the guard directly below your entry point, behind the divider separating him from the Daisho.

The best way to silently assassinate the final Daisho is by jumping up onto the fence and double assassinating both him and the student he’s training; just throw a smoke bomb before you do to ensure a clean in-and-out.

What Rewards Do You Get From Miki Castle?

Naoe approaches the Miki Castle Legendary Chest in Assassin's Creed Shadows.

With that, you’ll have defeated all four Samurai Daisho in Miki Castle and earn access to the Legendary Chest. Below are the rewards from that chest and other side loot around Miki Castle.

Side Loot

Miki Castle is hiding a key along with some loot behind the doors it unlocks, plus a few other chests scattered throughout.

  • Key: Immediately after scaling the southwestern wall into the castle, you’ll find the key next to a shed on your right.

Sneak over through the bushes and assassinate the guard watching the key.

  • First Door: With the key in hand, go around the right side of the shed where you got the key and take down the guard on the side of it.

Enter and get the chest and resources inside, including three piles of resources to smuggle into your hideout.

  • Second Door: There’s a second door in the same courtyard where you killed the third Samurai Daisho, to the south.

Inside is a chest with a cosmetic item and three resource piles you can smuggle.

  • Additional Loot:
    • Across from the small shed that opens with the key, you can double assassinate two guards sitting by a fire and open a small chest in front of them with crafting materials.
    • In the same area, you’ll find two bales of wood in the partially built house across from the locked door.
    • Inside the house where you killed the first Samurai Daisho, you’ll find a chest with a rare trinket in it.
    • Inside the same building where you assassinated the second Daisho, you’ll find a chest with some armor in it.
    • In the house across from where you killed the fourth Daisho, you’ll find two chests and a ration bin. One of the chests should have a rare weapon.

Legendary Chest

Naoe claims the Defense Master Headwrap from the Miki Castle Reward Chest in Assassin's Creed Shadows.

The Legendary Chest is in the central courtyard, inside the building where you assassinated the second Samurai Daisho.

This chest contains the following rewards:

  • 3,000 exp
  • An Engraving
  • The Defense Master Headwrap Legendary Helmet for Naoe

Legendary gear is always appreciated, making it well worth clearing Miki Castle despite the requirement of hunting down its four Daisho.
