You’ll need Mon to buy new weapons and upgrades in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

You can distinctly identify these spots with an icon where the person is sitting in a meditation pose. While doing the first four Kuji-Kiri, you’ll enter Naoe’s flashbacks where you must follow a specific path to beat it and learn more about her.

Izumi Settsu Kuji-Kiri Locations

Assassin's Creed Shadows all Kuji-Kiri numbered locations in Izumi Settsu.

Izumi Settsu is the first province where you’ll end the prologue of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and you can find five Kuji-Kiri spots here by visiting the following locations:

1

The first spot can be found right after the prologue as you unlock your hideout. When in the hideout, move straight in the eastern direction and the location will get highlighted for you.

2

Take the road leading to the southwest of the hideout where you see the Osaka region near the ocean. You’ll find the Kuji-Kiri here in the Rolling Glen area.

3

Going south from the second spot, you’ll see the Kawachi Heights Kakurega once you cross a river. This spot can be found on the mountain east of this Kakurega.

4

This spot can be located on the southwestern side of the Hideout, and it’ll be marked when you unlock the Kawachi Lost Pagoda fast travel point.

5

For the last Kuji-Kiri in Izumi Settsu, you have to head over to Amagasaki in the northwestern region past the big river. You can find it on the western beach of this area.

Yamashiro Kuji-Kiri Locations

Assassin's Creed Shadows all Kuji-Kiri numbered locations in Yamashiro.

Being the second province, Yamashiro has a total of three Kuji-Kiri spots:

1

The first spot can be found as you cross the boundary of Izumi Settsu and reach Yamashiro, where you’ll find the Shoryuji area above Yamazaki. The Kuji-Kiri is a little to the west of Shoryuji.

2

For the second spot, you’ll have to go to the north of Kyoto and then take the road leading to the eastern direction. Keep following this road and you’ll highlight the Kuji-Kiri on your right.

3

The final spot is located far on the northern edge of Yamashiro, right above the Kuramadera Pagoda.

Omi Kuji-Kiri Locations

Assassin's Creed Shadows all Kuji-Kiri numbered locations in Omi.

Omi is one of the biggest provinces in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and you can find two Kuji-Kiri spots in it:

1

When you enter Omi from the western side of the giant Lake Biwa, you’ll reach a Mount Hiei area as you make your way up north. You can find this spot to the north of where “Mount Hiei” is written on the map, just above a small pond.

2

For the second Omi Kuji-Kiri spot, you’ll have to move to the top where Takashima Shores is written on the map. You can find the point just above this area.

Harima Kuji-Kiri Locations

Assassin's Creed Shadows all Kuji-Kiri numbered locations in Harima.

Harima can be found on the western side of the map, and there are two Kuji-Kiri spots here as well:

1

You’ll likely enter Harima from the southwest part as you go through Izumi Settsu, though the Kuji-Kiri spots in it are in the north. You’ll find the first one on the northwestern part of the map, to the northwest of Engyoji.

2

The second one can be found as you move to the east of Mount Kasagata. You’ll see a bit of the boundary going down in this area, and you’ll find it right below this boundary.

Yamato Kuji-Kiri Locations

Assassin's Creed Shadows all Kuji-Kiri numbered locations in Yamato.

You can find Yamato at the bottom-right of Izumi Settsu where you can find, once again, two Kuji-Kiri spots:

1

While entering Yamato from Iga, you’ll find the Uda Matsuyama castle to the northeast. This spot can be found on the eastern side of this castle.

2

Going straight south from the first spot, you can find the second Kuji-Kiri area in Yamato past the river to the northeast of Yoshino.

Iga Kuji-Kiri Locations

Assassin's Creed Shadows all Kuji-Kiri numbered locations in Iga.

Iga is the homeland of Naoe, and you’ll finish one Kuji-Kiri here during her flashbacks. Other than that, you can find one more Kuji-Kiri here:

1

You can find this right outside Naoe’s home in Iga, and you’ll automatically finish it during one of her flashbacks (more on this below).

2

You’ll find the second spot on the southwestern edge of Iga, directly below Hijiyama.

Tamba Kuji-Kiri Locations

Assassin's Creed Shadows all Kuji-Kiri numbered locations in Tamba.

Much like the majority of the provinces in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Tamba also has two Kuji-Kiri spots:

1

You’ll see the Kameyama region to the southeast of Tamba, and this spot can be found in the Seirinji Temple at the bottom right of this region.

2

For the second spot, you have to head to the northwestern side of Tamba, right below where Miyazu Bay is written on the map.

Wakasa Kuji-Kiri Locations

Assassin's Creed Shadows all Kuji-Kiri numbered locations in Wakasa.

Wakasa can be found on the northwestern side of the map of Japan, and the two Kuji-Kiri spots here can be found as follows:

1

The first spot is on the southeastern boundary of Wakasa, though it’ll take you a while to reach as there are no fast travel points near it. Get the Onyu Pass Overlook viewpoint and you can then make your way to this by marking the “?” at its location.

2

The second Kuji-Kiri point can be found on the beach to the southwest of Obama City, which can be found right where Wakasa is written on the map on 1x Zoom.

Kii Kuji-Kiri Locations

Assassin's Creed Shadows all Kuji-Kiri numbered locations in Kii.

Kii is the largest province in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, stretching from west to east at the bottom, but it’s also the region with only one Kuji-Kiri spot. However, reaching this spot will be quite a task as it’s found in the southeastern part of the area.

To get to it, you can first unlock the Maruyama Shrine fast travel found in the northeast of the Kumano Sanzan area. After that, you can move directly south along one of the two rivers near this viewpoint and you’ll eventually find the spot after going down a waterfall.

All Naoe Flashback Walkthroughs

There are a total of 21 Kuji-Kiri spots in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, but when you meditate on them for the first four times, you’ll be taken into a flashback of Naoe’s story, which shows you the incidents that led to the final war in the prologue. Here’s how you can beat all these flashbacks:

Shinobi Warfare Guide

Assassin's Creed Shadows enemies going past Naoe in Shinobi Warfare.

You’ll get your first flashback in the prologue itself while trying to escape the place you’re being treated. In this, your father will send you to help Matsu, but then you’ll learn that Iga is being invaded. Shinobi Warfare is the second flashback that starts after you do your first Kuji-Kiri, and you start it by following Matsu.

You get your first katana here, after which, the village chief Momochi Sandayu asks you to get to the edge of Nagano Pass, but the important part about this mission is that it has to be stealthy. After this conversation, you’ll have the mountain path that you need to take in the front.

You can run through this path until Naoe says that the enemies could be anywhere and you get a yellow bar at the top.

Once your bar turns red, you can use the bushes around to hide yourself from the enemies while using the observer mode to see where they are. After dodging the first couple of enemies, you’ll see a cutscene where Naoe kills the first human.

Get past this cutscene and wait in the small grass of the next part until two soldiers walk past you. When that happens, move forward and stay in the grass on the left until the soldiers move away and you can move to the right. After getting past this bit, you’ll be able to reach the final location and play out another cutscene.

At the end of this, you’ll have to defeat a fully armored enemy before this flashback ends.

Mind And Body Guide

Assassin's Creed Shadows Naoe performing Kuji-Kiri in her home.

In the second flashback, you’ll start with Nagato asking you to perform another Kuji-Kiri, which is where the point outside your home in Iga gets completed. You then have to talk to Auntie Matsu, who will send you on a mission to retrieve the heirloom from a shrine, but the shrine will be filled with enemies.

Since Naoe is fairly weak here, the best bet is to stealth assassinate as many of these enemies as possible. If you see a group of enemies, you can whistle to lure them out and separate them. Use the observer mode to see the heirloom as a blue shiny spot, and take it to Nagato once you have it.

A True Igan

The third flashback unlocks the grapple for Naoe at the start as Sandayu asks her to check on a watchtower. To get to the watchtower, you can either get on your horse and follow the path highlighted by the game, or you can go through the mountains as you move directly at the blue mark on the top of your scale.

It’s easy to get lost if you do the latter, but you also save a lot of time if you do it right. As you reach the watchtower, climb on the tree trunk and you can grapple to the first structure. From here, jump on the front wall and hide inside the grass at the bottom, where you can slowly creep up to the enemies and assassinate them with your hook.

Jump on the door blocking your way and then you can grapple up to the next building. Move to the end of this building on the roof and you’ll see a bridge where a guard is patrolling. Wait for this guard to start moving in the direction where you have to go and then assassinate him from behind, letting you move forward.

Grapple up on the door from here and you can easily reach the final watchtower. After investigating the watchtower, jump down from its side and you can make your way back to Sandayu by following the blue mark.

Traditions Guide

Assassin's Creed Shadows Naoe entering Hijiyama Fort.

The fourth flashback starts with the process of making Naoe an official member, where you’ll have to duel Fujita Juro. After defeating him, you’ll be taken to a castle that you have to enter. You can start your entry by going to a few wooden structures where you’ll see a gap at the bottom that you can crawl through.

Talk to your father past this gap and then use your grapple and stealth to eavesdrop on a couple of soldiers and then enter the final room, where this flashback will end at the start of the war.
