The Judgemaster’s Sword is kind of a weird entry because it is not a physical weapon presented in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. It is showcased heavily in promo art for the game though, with Marche, the game’s protagonist, holding it.
The blade is one of the most peculiar in the entire series thanks to its large size and rounded end, making it look more like a Kingdom Hearts weapon. Instead of being physical, this weapon can be manifested by Judges in the game. The Bishop Job, for players, can also use this weapon to negate a Judge’s sway in battle, so it is usable by players in some form.

The Onion Knight is a Job that dates back to Final Fantasy 3, which is the game that created the swappable Job system in the first place. Final Fantasy 10 pays homage to this classic Job by turning it into Lulu’s ultimate weapon.
The doll is adorable, as are all of Lulu’s doll weapons, which help boost her Black Mage abilities. The Onion Knight cannot do much damage, but as a booster, it’s the best in the game. It’s also just funny and unique, making it easily stand out in the grand pantheon of Final Fantasy weapons.

The design has changed between iterations too, but overall, Barret’s Gatling Gun is as iconic as Mega Man’s Buster Cannon in his titular series. It would be cool if Capcom and Square Enix swapped these weapons at some point.

The Engine Blade is Noctis’ weapon in Final Fantasy 15. Main characters often get the best, or at least the best-designed weapons in these games, and Noctis is no exception. This simple sword has a literal engine built into the hilt of the blade, allowing players to rev it up before impact.
It gets upgraded throughout the game, boosting power over time. Noctis’ ability to throw weapons, including the Engine Blade, and teleport toward them helps it stand out even more. The weapon was so inseparable from Noctis that when he was added to Tekken 7, Bandai Namco incorporated it into his moveset, which is rare seeing as most fighters in that game primarily use their fists or legs.

Zidane has two types of weapons in Final Fantasy 9. He can wield twin daggers, one in each hand, or he can equip something called a Thief Sword. These weapons are double-bladed, wielded in the middle with a long pole. There are a lot of cool versions in the game, with The Ogre being one stellar example as depicted in greater detail with Zidane’s model in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT.
There are no real-life named equivalents to these types of weapons as they change between games, like Serge’s Swallow in Chrono Cross as another example. Whatever they are called, Zidane’s Thief Swords look like they would be really fun to twirl around.

Squall introduced the gunblade to fans in Final Fantasy 8, which was a blade attached to a revolver, and his starting model was aptly called Revolver. It was a neat idea for a weapon, but a bit janky in design. The coolest form of a gun meshed with a sword has to be in Final Fantasy 13 for the game’s heroine, Lightning.
Her starting weapon is called the Blazefire Saber. She can wield it as a standard sword, or transform it into a bigger gun, almost like a rifle. Thanks to this versatility, it rises above other gunblades in the Final Fantasy universe. All of Lightning’s guns can do this, but the starting model is still the coolest.

The Buster Sword is to Final Fantasy as the Super Star is to the Mario franchise. It’s used by Cloud in Final Fantasy 7, but its origins date back further. That’s not worth getting into now as it can spoil some things. What should be noted is that fans didn’t really get the broader feel of the weapon until Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
Since the combat was transformed into an action game, the Buster Sword’s weight could be properly emulated through gameplay. It may not be the flashiest weapon, like Lightning’s Blazefire Saber, and it doesn’t have range by its side like, Barret’s Gatling Gun, but Cloud certainly makes that Buster Sword sing in battle.
