Minecraft’s McDonald’s Crossover Is Now Official, And It Comes With A Happy Meal For Grown-Ups

Rumblings that Minecraft will be coming to McDonald’s in the UK started to circulate earlier this week, and now the fast food chain has confirmed those rumblings were indeed accurate. The crossover event between the two things kids love most will begin on March 26, 2025, a little more than a week before A Minecraft Movie hits theaters.

While you might assume a Minecraft x McDonald’s crossover would consist of blocky green Happy Meal boxes with toy Creepers inside, that’s not the case here. Quite the opposite, as it’s the grown-up Minecraft fans who will be leaving McDonald’s with toys starting from March 26.

McDonald’s has announced something it has dubbed A Minecraft Movie Meal. The meal consists of a Big Mac, fries, a drink, and your choice of either nine McNuggets or four veggie dippers. Even though the meal is clearly aimed at adults, the adults who buy it will get a toy along with their food. There are six to collect, all of which are Minecraft takes on iconic McDonald’s characters, and even a couple of McDonald’s menu items.

There’s a blocky egg-like Grimace, a Zombie Hamburglar, and even a helmet made out of McDonald’s fries. However, the highlight, for me at least, is the Hamburger Crystal. Despite its name, the burger block looks more like how a Big Mac might appear in Minecraft. It also makes me think McDonald’s has missed a trick by not releasing a square-shaped burger as part of this crossover. Perhaps Wendy’s has a patent on those, even though this crossover appears to be exclusive to the UK where Wendy’s only has a handful of locations.

There will also be a couple of other food items on the McDonald’s menu during A Minecraft Movie’s theatrical run. The Apple Cake McFlurry will have bright green sour apple sauce running through it with apple and biscuit pieces mixed in. There will also be a new limited edition addition to the McDonald’s sauce family – Nether Flame Sauce. You’re probably going to need that McFlurry after eating it.

There’s curiously no mention of a Minecraft Happy Meal as part of the crossover, but hopefully they will be a part of the game/movie’s residency at the fast food chain. Maybe the idea is that parents might give the toys they get with their meals to their kids. You don’t have to do that, though. If I’m lucky enough to get the Hamburger Crystal, I’m keeping it.
