Marvel Rivals Fans Think Peni Parker Fix 'Nerfed' Her

Summary

  • The recent bug fix for Peni Parker upset Marvel Rivals players.
  • Other heroes like Thing and Namor also had adjustments in the update.
  • The community dislikes the changes to Peni Parker’s Arachno-Mines.

Marvel Rivals players believe that the most recent bug fix made to Peni Parker’s Arachno-Mines turned into a nerf for the character. The adjustment took place in the March 13 update, which brought new skins and a wave of fixes for the heroes of Marvel Rivals.

One of the adjustments fixed a problem with Thing’s Embattled Leap, which had speed inconsistencies in different player views with poor network conditions. Another Marvel Rivals character that got corrections was Namor, who, when using his ultimate after being spat out by Jeff the Landshark’s ult, had a chance of not dealing damage. A third name who had a bug fixed was Peni Parker, but the community’s reaction to the adjustment was less than enthusiastic.

Marvel Rivals Developer Confirms Team-Up Changes for Season 2

A Marvel Rivals developer talks about team-ups and teases that this mechanic will undergo a shake-up in the second season of the game.

Redditor OldPack4454 is one of the players unhappy with the fix for the exploit that allowed Peni Parker to make her Arachno-Mines invisible even when placed outside the Cyber-Webs. With the release of Marvel Rivals version 20250314, mines beyond the web now remain visible, and have a delay before becoming invisible inside the web. The community has also noticed that the mines now have another bug. Now they can be destroyed inside the webs simply by “running over them using virtually any area or melee attack.”

Marvel Rivals Players Believe Peni Parker Needs a Rework

The OP adds that due to the most recent changes, Peni can’t place mines through Cloak and Dagger’s ultimate, or anywhere next to The Thing. They say that using mines in any area where a lot of shooting is going on is an equally bad idea and that while they are in favor of bug fixes, they disagree when fixes “vastly reduce a character’s strength.” Other Redditors agreed with the player’s post, with one of the comments suggesting that Peni Parker needs a complete rework. On the Marvel Rivals subreddit it is possible to find other posts from players unhappy with the change, and more comments calling for the Vanguard to be reworked.

Curiously, despite being a character considered “buggy,” Peni Parker is a particularly popular choice among Marvel Rivals Vanguards. She is the fourth most chosen hero of the class (13.03%) and the third most victorious (51.49%) among competitive players on PC. Among console players, the numbers are even better, with Peni boasting the second-best pick rate (17.02%), and the fourth-best win rate (51.63%) among all Vanguards. The devs haven’t addressed the complaints from Marvel Rivals players, who now wait to see what Peni’s situation in the meta will be after the most recent changes.
