Ever since Crichton’s 1990 Jurassic Park, and the Spielberg blockbuster adaptation that followed in 1993, every dinosaur lover in existence has dreamed of how they could build the park right. “If I was in charge, it would have all gone smoothly.” Jurassic World Evolution 2 demands you prove that bold claim, putting you in charge as the park master, accompanied by iconic faces from the series as you build your very own tourist attractions. One of the best building sims on PC, with an 89% recommendation score from Steam users to match, you can pick the dinosaur strategy game up completely free this week thanks to Epic.
Frontier’s Jurassic World Evolution 2 is the 2021 follow-up to its already excellent 2018 original. It combines everything the studio learned from its work on the likes of Rollercoaster Tycoon, Planet Coaster, and Planet Zoo into a magnificent management game offering a blend of campaign, sandbox, and challenge modes. The result is one of the PC’s best dinosaur games, and a great time whether you’re a lifelong Jurassic Park fan or just looking for a rewarding chance to put your park-building skills to the test. Of course, things can (and will) go wrong, catastrophically so at times, but that’s all part of the brief.

The biggest new feature for the sequel is the Chaos Theory mode, which drops you into prebuilt scenarios based on each of the (at the time) five movies to see if you could turn their fortunes around. Alongside this is a campaign set in the wake of the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, where you must help manage the spread of dinosaurs across North America by building habitats to capture, contain, and conserve the wild creatures. You’re joined here by famous faces such as Dr. Ian Malcom and Claire Dearing (suitably voiced by Jeff Goldblum and Bryce Dallas Howard).
Challenge mode tasks you with earning the elusive five-star rating under a series of limitations, from tight time restrictions to limited funds, environmental hazards, or awkward prebuilt park layouts. This brings your knowledge of the systems to the fore in more puzzle-style levels that can be completed in just one sitting. Finally, sandbox mode gives you the full set of tools to create a facility from the ground-up as you desire, taking the needs of your guests, animals, and staff into account in order to succeed.
With more than 75 species included in Jurassic World Evolution 2, including highly requested additions such as flying and marine creatures, there’s no shortage of variety on offer. Each species you bring into the fold comes with its own requirements, behaviors, and reactions to the world and other animals around them. There’s even the option to dig into bioengineering to further customize their traits or looks. If you’ve ever been tempted to give it a try, grab it right now while it’s a free PC game.
Jurassic World Evolution 2 is free to keep via the Epic Games Store, as long as you claim it by Thursday March 27 at 8am PT / 11am ET / 3pm GMT / 4pm CET. Head here to secure your copy now.
If that’s not enough, there are more of the best strategy games on PC, along with the best simulation games out in 2025, to keep you plenty busy.
