Invincible’s release schedule has been the subject of much controversy since it debuted in 2021, but it seems like the show is finally back on track. Having just wrapped up season three, the show has confirmed it will return for season four “sometime in 2026”. The short press release states that the voice acting has already been completed, which naturally means the scripts themselves have been completed too.

It’s already the best thing involving Invincible Kirkman has ever seen, and it’s not even finished.
All that’s left is the animation, but for a show as colourful, explosive, and expressive as Invincible, that still leaves quite a bit of work to do. Still the vague 2026 target gives the show a lot of wiggle room. That said, season one, the second half of season two, and season three all debuted between mid-February and mid-March, so we might expect Invincible season four to be with us by this time next year.
Who Is Thragg?
The other important slice of information in the press release is that “Thragg has been cast”. It also jokes that “Invincible has also been cast”, but obviously the role will continue to be played by Steven Yeun. Fans who aren’t as well versed in the comics might not know who Thragg is, but avid readers will have been awaiting his arrival since the show began.
Thragg is a Viltrumite, like Omni-Man, which naturally means he’s very, very powerful. But that’s underselling it – Thragg might just be the strongest Viltrumite, and his addition fundamentally shifts the hierarchy of the show. Basically, Thragg is to Invincible what The Rock and absolutely nobody else thought Black Adam was to DC.
With fans well aware of where the show was heading, the r/fancast subreddit has been eagerly debating Thragg since season three ended last week. Ron Perlman, Bryan Cranston, David Morrissey, and Jon Bernthal are the most popular choices, while Kratos actor in God of War, Christopher Judge, has also been a popular pick. Whoever the fans want is mostly moot since whoever it is, they’ve already been cast and recorded all of their lines, but whoever it is will be one of the most interesting reveals leading up to season four dropping next year.
