Infested Liches And Coda Weapons Explained

The Technocyte virus has now infected Warframe’s

Lich system. Tenno from all across the system can now delve into Hollvania to create their own nemesis boy band. As ridiculous as it sounds, this third iteration of Liches is by far the simplest and arguably the most rewarding.

Besting your Technocyte Coda will award tons of new cosmetic goodies and access to Coda weapons, stronger variants of Infested gear that have fallen out of the meta. Today, we’ll be covering how Coda Liches work and how to take them down using the new Antivirus and Potency mods. We will also give a brief rundown of how Coda weapons work.

What Are Coda Liches?

Warframe Coda Boy Band

Technocyte Coda is the in-game term for an Infested Lich. Unlike a Kuva Lich or Sister of Parvos, a Coda consists of multiple Infested entities that act as members of a mutated boy band. Instead of fighting one Lich, you’re technically facing five at once.

The good news is that Technocyte Codas are significantly easier to take down than your average Lich. You only need one Requiem mod to take them down—now called Antivirus mods—and their combat encounters are slightly easier than standard Lich fights. If you’re far enough in Warframe to comfortably farm 1999 content, then the Technocyte Coda shouldn’t pose much of a threat. Defeat the boy band in their mutated stadium, and you’ll walk away with new Coda weapons and cosmetics.

Spawning A Coda Lich

You cannot have an active Lich to create a Technocyte Coda.

Infested Liches are created from Exterminate, Hell-Scrubs, or Legacyte missions in Hollvania (1999 content). You’ll unlock this region upon completing ”

The Hex
” quest. Any of the three mission types will work to spawn an Infested Lich.

Partway through the mission, one of the enemies you kill will drop a mutated mixtape marked on your map with a circular icon. Pick up the mixtape and deposit it into any terminal marked on your HUD. Inserting the tape will trigger a minigame that works identically to Snake. Win or lose, you’ll create the Technocyte Coda once the hack is over. Evac from the mission to check out what type of boy band you’ve created.

Antivirus And Potency Mods

Warframe Infested Coda Menu

As with other Liches, you can check your current Technocyte Coda progress from the Star Chart menu beside the Nightwave banner. Clicking on this banner will bring up your current Infested Lich. There’s a ton of information on this menu, but there are only two things you need to focus on:

  1. Malware Disinfection: How close you are to killing your Technocyte Coda. At 100%, you can initiate their dedicated boss fight in Earth Proxima.
  2. Antivirus Attempts: Showcases which symbols you’ve tried to kill the boy band with. Once you find the correct symbol, it’ll appear here.

Antivirus Mods

Warframe Antivirus Mods

Your Lich progress for Infested Coda is showcased as Malware Disinfection. Your goal is to reach 100 percent by stabbing your boy band members with the correct Parazon symbol, the same as

Kuva and Sister Liches
. However, unlike those previous Lich types, Infested Liches only require one symbol, not three; order doesn’t matter here.

Since Coda members are made of Infested tissue, standard Requiem mods will not work here. To fight Malware, you’re going to need Antivirus mods. These are effectively Requiem mods with a retro 1999 spin. You can farm for Antivirus mods from special Infested Lich bounties in Hollvania. It’ll be labeled as a Bountiful Harvest bounty. Antivirus mods are a guaranteed reward.

Once you get your hands on one, head to your Parazon modding screen and install it. You only need one symbol to damage your Infested Lich. Equip three unique symbols, test it on your Lich to see if any are correct, and repeat. Should you guess the right symbol, you’ll generate Malware Disinfection progress. You’ll get roughly ten percent by default, but you can greatly speed this up with Potency mods.

Potency Mods

Warframe Potency Mod

Since you don’t need your Parazon to be stacked with Antivirus mods, you have a couple of slots open for augments. Potency mods allow you to generate additional Malware Disinfection from successful Parazon finishers against Infested Liches. As with Antivirus Mods, Potency mods have three charges. A charge is consumed for each Parazon finisher you perform.

You’ll find Potency mods from slain Technocyte enemies in Hollvania. These mods can drop in any 1999 activity, not just Technocyte Coda missions. If you’re planning on farming for these mods, bring some loot Warframes like Nekros or Khora with her Strangledome augment.

Confronting Your Coda

Warframe Coda Nodes

Taking down your Infested boy band is a fairly simple process. Once you have a Lich, check your 1999 monitor to look for any Hollvania missions that are overtaken by your Lich. These mission nodes will have a green aura around them. Playing these missions will have an escalating chance of spawning your Infested Lich, up to a guaranteed appearance after four missions.

Liches will spawn roughly two minutes into a mission and display their health bars on the top of your HUD. You’ll need to eliminate two Coda members and use your Parazon to finish them. Your equipped Antivirus mods will then be tested against the Technocyte virus. If any of your equipped symbols match the Lich’s vulnerabilities, you’ll weaken the Lich and gain Malware Disinfection progress. If not, you’ll need to reconfigure your Parazon outside the mission to try a new collection of symbols.

Warframe Successful Coda Parazon Finisher

Each successful Parazon execution against a Technocyte Coda will reset Hollvania’s Lich tiles. Complete these nodes until your Lich spawns, stab them with your Parazon, and repeat until you hit 100 percent Malware Disinfection. Remember to use your Potency mods to speed up the process.

Warframe Coda Proxima Boss Node

After hitting 100 percent Malware Disinfection, you can face the Technocyte Coda in the Earth Proxima, which you’ll find in the Railjack Star Chart map. The boy band will make their final stand in a mutated stadium. Destroy the towers surrounding the perimeter, get inside the stadium, and deal as much damage as possible until you can execute the Coda.

The stadium is filled with AoE attacks and Infested adds. Bring a Warframe with high survivability or invulnerability mechanics to make this fight easier.

You have two options when finishing the Coda:

  • Vanquish: Awards Live Heartcells, a currency required to purchase Coda weapons from Eleanor. Also grants Coda cosmetics.
  • Convert: Saves the Coda for later use, allowing them to be traded with other players or appear in missions as temporary allies. Also grants Coda cosmetics.

For the vast majority of players, we recommend you vanquish your Lich. This will award Live Heartcells and any exclusive cosmetics your Coda has. The Heartcells are a vital currency for obtaining Coda weapons, upgraded variants of iconic Infested gear.

Coda Weapons

Warframe Coda Weapon Shop

Vanquishing your Infested Lich will award at least ten Live Heartcells. You can spend these Heartcells at Eleanor in the Hollvania hub to acquire Coda weapons. These are significantly stronger versions of Infested weapons, some of which are entirely new to Warframe, such as the Coda Motovore.

Unlike past Lich weapons, Coda weapons are sold on a rotation that mimics Ergo Glast’s Tenet shop. Every four days, Eleanor will have a new set of Coda weapons up for sale, complete with randomized progenitor bonuses.

Progenitor Bonuses

Every Coda weapon comes with a progenitor bonus, a damage bonus that ranges from 24-60 percent. This damage bonus is always in a specific damage type, usually an element. You can adjust these bonuses through two methods:

  1. Valance Fusion: Combine two copies of a Coda weapon into one, increasing the strength of your progenitor bonus.
  2. Valance Override: Allows you to freely swap the progenitor damage type. Requires an Elemental Vice consumable.

Valance Fusion is the process of combining two copies of the same Coda weapon together. Doing so will merge the progenitor bonuses together, making your weapon deal even more damage. This bonus cannot exceed 60%. Be careful which weapon you choose to infuse, as you can accidentally destroy a weapon you’ve invested resources in.

Valance Override gives you the option of changing your progenitor’s damage type into whatever you want. Doing so will require a Coda weapon with five Forma installed and an Elemental Vice. You can get Elemental Vices as a reward from R5 Hex content and from Eleanor’s shop (R5 required).
