At the start of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, the remaining survivors from Earth have not been on Mira for long. As one would expect, they don’t have much information about what is out there beyond the gates of New Los Angeles. So one of the things you’ll be doing over the lengthy runtime of this game is exploring Mira and gathering that intelligence on Humanity’s new home. To reward players for the time they spend exploring and to track their progress, there is a percentage that tracks all of that known as the Survey Rate. How to Increase Survey Rate in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition
Unlocking the Survey Rate is part of the main objective for Chapter 2. Once the protagonist and their allies install the first probe, symbols will appear within the hexagons on the map (also known as segments). The objective of each segment will vary from collecting treasures, killing a Tyrant, and other similar objectives. You will also unlock the ability to complete segment objectives within New Los Angeles as well. Completing side quests, heart-to-hearts, and collecting treasure will complete segments just like they would outside the safety of New Los Angeles.
Some objectives can only be unlocked once you’ve advanced far enough into the story. Others, especially within New Los Angeles, can only be unlocked by increasing your affinity with your party members.
With each probe installed, you will reveal more segments with objectives to pursue. Every time you complete an objective within a segment, your Survey Rate for both the Region and Mira. For example, looting a container in the Administrative District increased the Survey Rate for that area by 1.56% and also increased the Survey Rate of Mira by .15%.
Rewards for Increasing Survey Rate
Each objective completed will reward you with Credits and Experience along with an increase in your Survey Rate. In addition to this, there are also milestone rewards you get for increasing your Survey Rate in increments of five percent. Using the Primordia region as an example, here are the Survey Rate milestone rewards.
