The map in Assassin’s Creed Shadows is littered with locations to find and things to interact with. There are towns, shrines, castles and more you’ll stumble across, but the strangest things you’ll find are small floating Ks that give you an item called Keys when you pick them up.

Who Was The First Assassin In Assassin’s Creed?
Assassin’s Creed’s Brotherhood goes back centuries, but who was the very first Assassin?
It’s not immediately clear what they’re for, though. How many do you have? What do they unlock? Where do you spend them? They’re all questions you’ll likely be asking when you find a Keys icon for the first time while out exploring the Japanese wilderness.
What Keys Are For
Keys are used to unlock exclusive skins from the Exchange. If you pause the game and head to the menu where you find the map and your inventory, you’ll be able to hold the touchpad on PlayStation, or the Menu button on Xbox, to open up the Animus menu.
The Animus menu is a store for more premium items, such as unlock shortcuts, skins, and bundles of resources. You can spend the Keys you get on the stuff in that store. Some of the skins are really cool, and unlike anything you’ll get as a reward for completing quests.
The items you can buy with Keys from the Animus store will change weekly and daily.
Where To Find Keys
While you can get Keys by completing Projects via the Animus, the best way to get Keys is to find them out and about in the world in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
While you’ll stumble on plenty of them, if you open the map and zoom in as far as you can, small Keys icon will show locations of where you can find them. They won’t show unless you zoom in quite a lot.
Once you’ve headed to the location, you’ll be able to hold L2 if you’re on PlayStation or LT if you’re on Xbox to grab them. You’ll usually get 20 or 30 Keys each time you find a floating icon out in the world.
