After completing the main quest ‘An Untimely End’ in Avowed and deciding Ygwulf’s fate, it’s time to leave Dawnshore to investigate the Dreamscourge. If you haven’t finished your tasks in Dawnshore or feel like you haven’t explored its captivating atmosphere enough, now is the perfect time to do so.
Your next destination will be Fior mes Iverno, a place where animancers reside. Your first objective here will be to meet the governor. In this main quest, you’ll travel to Emerald Stair and discover new locations you haven’t explored before. Therefore, being fully prepared for this long adventure will be to your advantage.
Travel To Fior Mes Iverno
To reach Fior Mes Iverno, head southeast on the Dawnshore map. However, before setting off, make sure your gear is strong enough and upgrade it as needed—this won’t be an easy journey.
If you killed Ygwulf, you’ll find your first companion, Garryck, executed as you travel east of the Southern Embrace Party Camp.
Head east of the Emerald Stair Gatehouse Beacon toward the large temple-like building. Here, Stecg will confront you. If you spared Ygwulf, you’ll receive the Writ of Passage, allowing you to pass through the rebel-occupied area with ease. If you killed Ygwulf, you’ll receive Dissident’s Warning, a threat message, making your journey through the rebel territory more difficult.
Proceed forward and speak with Edda, who will provide some information about the Inquisitor. Afterward, you’ll be able to travel to Emerald Stair. Upon arrival, your companions will initiate dialogue, and Kai will offer you the companion quest Battle Scars, which you can complete in Emerald Stair.
Once you leave the camp, your first objective is to reach Fior Mes Iverno. Head northwest from your current location. On the way, you’ll encounter Yatzli, who will be fighting hostile Sporelings.
Speaking with her will grant you the Scofflaw’s Vase side quest, requiring you to retrieve the Godless Vase from nearby ruins. You may want to complete this quest before speaking with Giatta, as it will be canceled otherwise.
Continue following the northern path, and after fighting more Sporelings, you’ll reach Maxim’s Claim Party Camp. If you stay on the path, you’ll arrive at the Farmer’s Market, where you can buy supplies from Lluisa Melcer. She also sells Hylea’s Talon, an important upgrade material.
Exploring Emerald Stair thoroughly and gathering materials will help strengthen your equipment for future challenges. If you continue north of the Farmer’s Market, you’ll meet Sielo Piannini, who will give you the Food Theft side quest.
Speak With The Governor
Upon reaching Fior Mes Iverno from the northwest of Farmer’s Market, you’ll meet Captain Aelfyr. From here, you can visit the Porrya & Vellino shop or check the Bounty Board on the left side of the shop to hunt down wanted targets.
In the alley to the right of Porrya & Vellino, you’ll find Rossano Fallo, who will give you the Elder Offerings side quest. Continue down the alley and take the stairs on the left to find the Governor, who is surrounded by several angry citizens.
One citizen, Giatta, will be particularly furious with the Governor. After the heated argument, the Governor will exile Giatta, banning the Animancer from entering Fior Mes Iverno. At this point, you can go upstairs in the Governor’s building and open a lockbox to obtain the Vailian Breastplate.
You can also take the Bedroom Key from the shelf below and unlock the bedroom downstairs. Inside, you’ll find the Governor’s mother, Estel Viderro, who is in poor health and unable to speak.
Speak With Giatta
Your next objective is to reach Giatta’s house. After leaving the Governor’s Manor, head right into the alley and go down the stairs. The house on the right is where you’ll find Giatta and Pere Quilicci.
Before speaking with Giatta, make sure to loot the lockbox near the fireplace and grab the food in the kitchen.
After talking to Giatta, you’ll need to gather information about Dreamscourge from the Animancers she knows:
- Consult with Monto
- Consult with Elia
- Consult with Ivette and Remi
Since Monto is the closest and located within Fior Mes Iverno, it’s best to visit him first.
Consult With Monto
Leave Giatta’s house and head left. If you enter the Bone & Boar tavern on the right and speak with Lieutenant Fidelio, you’ll receive the Missing Rangers side quest.
Continue down the street, go up the stairs, and turn left to open the double wooden doors. Inside, you’ll meet Monto Pastor. His workshop’s machine requires a power source, updating your objective to retrieve an Adragan Heart.
Retrieve An Adragan Heart
The location where you’ll retrieve the Adragan Heart is filled with dangerous enemies, and if you mess things up—or if you’re looking for a challenge—you’ll face a tough boss fight.
Make sure you’re well-prepared with strong gear, plenty of potions, and upgraded equipment before heading in.
First, leave Fior Mes Iverno. Your goal is to head west of Emerald Stair. Start your journey by crossing one of the bridges west of Fior Mes Iverno. As you approach the objective’s area, you’ll encounter Delemgans, who are quite formidable foes. Make sure your gear is strong enough to handle them.
Alternatively, you can kite them with a good bow, keeping your distance while chipping away at their health.
After some challenging battles, you’ll reach a wide open clearing where the Delemgan Queen resides. However, before approaching her, make sure you avoid being spotted. If you prefer, you can fight in the clearing, but it’s also possible to reach the Queen without engaging the Delemgans. Wait for the right moment as they patrol, and sneak inside at the right time.
To do this, jump down from the left side of the log above and quickly enter the Queen’s sanctuary.If you avoid combat and speak with her without killing anyone in her base, she will give you the Adragan Heart peacefully. If you have eight Intellect or nine Resolve, you can convince her even if you’ve killed her guards outside.
However, if you fail to persuade her or engage in battle before entering, she will attack you and this will be a very difficult fight.
Fight The Delemgan Queen
Since you’ll be fighting in a confined space, using a melee weapon will be to your advantage. When the fight starts, she will seal off the entrance with roots, cutting off your escape. Inside, you’ll have to battle both Delemgans and Sporelings in close quarters, so be fully prepared.
Your first target should be Queen’s Malice, as it is the most dangerous enemy in the group. Once you clear out the enemies inside, the Queen herself will enter the fight, summoning another wave of reinforcements.
When battling her, prioritize eliminating the Queen’s Evoker first, as it constantly summons Blights, making the fight significantly harder. Afterward, take down the remaining Queen’s Malice before focusing on the Queen herself.
If you defeat the Queen, you can loot Ring of Minor Deflection from her body. Whether you fight or negotiate peacefully, don’t forget to grab the Garland of Wildgroves from the chest inside. If you handled things diplomatically, she will give you the Adragan Heart. If you killed her, retrieve it from the upper level of the sanctuary, near where you fought her.
Place The Heart In The Animancy Device
After obtaining the Adragan Heart, all you need to do is return to Monto, place the heart into the device, and then speak with him again. He will examine your soul, and after the dialogue, his part of the quest will be complete.
Additionally, don’t forget to open the chest behind his workshop.
Now, only two objectives remain, and they are much simpler than fighting the Delemgan Queen.
Consult With Elia
Elia is located in the southwest of Emerald Stair. If you’ve unlocked Maxim’s Claim Party Camp, teleport there and head southeast to reach Elia’s Revenant Farm. You will find Elia in front of a corpse named Beatrice. After talking to her, Elia will ask you to kill an undead named Silvo.
Additionally, if you take the Blighted Crop from Beatrice’s corpse and give it to Elia, she will reward you with 350 coins.
If you ask her, “Where do all of these corpses come from, anyway?” during the conversation, you can sell your corpse to her after you die, which will unlock the ‘Retirement Plan’ achievement.
You can find Silvo in a barn to the southwest of your current location. To get there, start from Elia’s position, go up the stairs to the south, turn right, crawl through the rocks, break the boards on the barn window, and enter to kill Silvo. Then, speak to Elia again to complete the quest.
If you sell her your future corpse, she will give you 750 coins and a Revenant Bell Collar, which allows you to summon a Revenant to fight for you in battle.
Consult With Ivette And Remi
Ivette and Remi are located just to the east of the farm where Elia is. Once you reach the Fior Mes Iverno Docks, talk to them, answer some of their questions, and this objective will be completed. This one is the easiest of all.
Check In With Giatta
After speaking with all the animancers, you need to return to Fior Mes Iverno and talk to Giatta. After talking to her, she will give you the Basement Key, and your objective will update to obtain Giatta’s Phantasmal Focus.
Exit the building she’s in and turn right. Head to the ivy-covered corridor next to the stairs. Open the door with the Giatta’s Basement Key and inside, near the plant corpses, you will find the Phantasmal Focus. Before taking it, don’t forget to open the lockbox inside.
Return to Giatta and speak with her. Once you give her the Phantasmal Focus, your party will decide to go to a place called Naku Tedek. Additionally, if you made Elowe your spy in the previous main quest, Giatta will give you a letter from her. After Giatta becomes your companion, this main quest will be completed.
