How to Forge the Best Artian Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds

Arguably the most integral part of any hunter’s kit in Monster Hunter Wilds is their weapon of choice. Most weapons are forged from specific monster parts, but some can also be crafted with ancient relics of the past.

Each of the 14 weapon types in Monster Hunter Wilds has a crafting tree that can branch in numerous different ways. A simple weapon like the Iron Tree can eventually be crafted into something like Lala Barina’s weapons. When crafting any of these weapons, their traits are static and cannot be influenced by anything else. That is where Artian Weapons come in to play, and they can serve as some of the most potent weapons in the entire game. Here’s how to forge the best Artian Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds.

What are Artian Weapons, and How Do You Make Them in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Artian Weapons are a craftable version of the 14 weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds. Their traits can be hand-picked by the player and refined to have their potency increased by a randomized upgrade system. In order to specifically craft an Artian Weapon, one must start with obtaining Artian Pieces by completing certain quests.

The first time any player will become exposed to Artian Pieces is when they fight their first tempered monster during the endgame story. Upon completion, the rewards will be these sharper icons with a question mark that will convert into a randomized Artian Part. After that mission, any hunt quest that features a tempered monster will feature these Artian Pieces as a reward. They will be labeled in the quest rewards before accepting it and the more Artian Piece icons a quest has, the more pieces you can get from that quest. The rarity of these pieces is also dictated by the star rank of the quest. For reference, tempered monster quests that are 6 stars or lower will reward Rarity 6 Artian Pieces, while quests that are 7 stars or higher reward Rarity 8 pieces.

Artian Part Selection

Upon claiming at least one Artian Part, you can return to Gemma and two new tabs will be available titled:

  • Forge Artian Weapon
  • Reinforce/Dismantle Artian Weapon

When forging an Artian Weapon from scratch, you must have the required types of parts for the weapon type you want to make. The four types of parts are blades, tubes, discs, and devices. Each of the 14 weapons will require a different trio of these parts. For example, Dual Blades require 2 blades and 1 disc while a Sword and Shield needs a blade, a tube, and a disc.

Each part will also have an elemental type associated with it along with an Artian Bonus that will be provided to the weapon. These features are integral to forging the exact type of Artian Weapon you want. To ensure the element type you want the weapon to have, make sure the majority of your parts are of that desired element. 2 out of the 3 parts can be the same element to achieve the desired result. However, if all 3 are different, the weapon will have no element tied to it.

The Artian Bonus comes in two forms: Attack Infusion or Affinity Infusion. Having all three parts with the same bonus will prioritize that specific feature of the weapon, and using a mix of part bonuses can create a relatively balanced weapon overall.

Artian Reinforcement

Once you have your desired Artian Weapon crafted, it can then be reinforced to increase its potential. All Artian Weapons can be reinforced up to 5 times. To do so, you are going to need certain reinforcement materials to accumulate a total of 3,000 points to reinforce your Artian weapon to the next level. Those materials are:

  • Drearisite (20 points)
  • Specklite (100 points)
  • Argecite (200 points)
  • Oricalite (300 points)

Reinforcement will provide your weapon with a random Reinforcement Bonus. These bonuses are:

  • Affinity Boost
  • Attack Boost
  • Sharpness Boost
  • Element Boost

Depending on what type of weapon you may be looking for and how your build may be structured around it, each of these boosts has its uses. If you are looking for an element-based build, then the reinforcements you should be on the lookout for should predominantly be Element Boost.

There is absolutely no way of guaranteeing what kind of reinforcement bonus you get on your Artian Weapons. Each time a weapon is reinforced, the bonus is chosen at random, and it cannot be reverted.

Not everyone will get lucky with their first Artian Weapon reinforcements. Luckily, they can be dismantled at any point, and they will refund every single one of the reinforcement materials you used on that specific Artian Weapon. While it does not refund the Artian Pieces needed to craft a new weapon from scratch, it at least makes it easier to obtain more materials to reinforce any new weapons you craft. This ensures you can have the best chances of getting the right Artian Weapon with the best possible reinforcements to suit your build.
