One fish that may elude you is the huge Moonla. As expected, this is a huge version of the regular Moonla. In this guide, we’ll take a look at exactly where you can find the huge Moonla in Hello Kitty Island Adventure. The fish can be hard to reel in, so we’ll take a look at some tips as well.
Where To Find Huge Moonlas
All Moonlas are found in Cloud Island. If you are trying to find this fish but don’t have this location unlocked yet, you’ll need to complete several main story quests and ultimately finish Stargazing, which unlocks Kiki and Lala.
Moonlas are found on a group of islands with star-shaped pond. To get here, you’ll need to start the quest called Star Fish. This is actually the first quest where you will encounter a huge Moonla, as Badtz-maru asks for the fish.
Once you make it here, you can find huge Moonlas in the pond directly to the upper-right (and one layer up) from the star-shaped pond. Here, you can find a round pond with two waterfalls connected to it. To reach here, you’ll need to jump into the circular air vent and activate your balloons.
The huge Moonla appears at any time, so you don’t need to wait for a specific time of day.
Tips To Catching A Huge Moonla
Even if you fish in the pond directly to the upper right of the star-shaped pond, you aren’t guaranteed to catch a huge Moonla. Regular Moonlas can spawn here, so you’ll most likely need to catch a lot of fish before you snag a huge Moonla.
If you want to increase your chances of getting a huge Moonla, consider bringing along Hangyodon as a companion. If you have at least friendship level ten with him, you’ll have the Fish Friend ability active.
This ability increases the chances of a rare fish appearing by 25 percent, which can potentially increase your chance of catching a huge Moonla.
Do You Need Bait?
Bait can be added to your fishing rod in order to make fish more likely to bite. The helpfulness of bait in this situation is debated; it’s possible to catch a huge Moonla without bait, especially if you have Hangyodon by your side.
So, if you have bait, feel free to use it. If not, then it’s still possible to catch a huge Moonla.
We caught a huge Moonla on the first try with one Moon Cheese used as bait. This may have helped, so if you have some extra Moon Cheese, consider using it as bait.
