At this point in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you’ve likely grown accustomed to the formula behind forts, fortresses, and castles, as each area dangles the promise of legendary loot and experience in front of you in exchange for simply defeating some enemies and finding a chest.

Buckle up for a gauntlet of five Samurai Daisho in Himeji Castle.
While this sounds particularly beneficial to you, especially as Yasuke, you might want to try using Naoe to expertly move through areas in silence. While Naoe’s methods might seem slower and more methodical, taking the slow and silent approach can ensure that you get through Yakami Fort in one piece, especially if you’re tackling this late-game area under-leveled.
Where Is Yakami Fort?
You’ll find Yakami Fort in the central area of Tamba, between Takeda and Arashiyama.
The closest fast travel point is the Yakima Kakurega next to Hatano’s House to the west of the fort.
How To Find & Assassinate The Samurai Daisho
Enter the fort from the northwestern end of the compound; luckily, there is only a single Samurai Daisho to take down, so this will be quick.
From the northwestern courtyard, head southeast into the next area of Yakami Fort, a central courtyard with several guards and a key.
From the central courtyard, head south and further east into Yakami Fort, approaching the southern side. Circle up the path toward the scaffolding leading further up the mountain, south into a building, and the next area.
Leave this tower alone for now and head further south toward the final southern courtyard in the tower.
In the southernmost courtyard, you’ll find the one and only Samurai Daisho, who is busy berating an underling in front of a building.
The best thing to do is to double-assassinate the pair from the roof, putting an end to your Daisho dilemma.
If you enter this Fort while severely under-leveled, you may not be able to fully assassinate the Samurai Daisho, so be prepared to fight after your initial hit on him.
What Rewards Do You Get From Yakami Fort?
With the sole Samurai Daisho slain, you can enjoy plundering the rest of Yakami Fort. Feel free to dispatch the enemies as you see fit, but don’t let them sound the alarm.
Side Loot
On your excursion through Yakami Fort, there are a few notable side rewards to collect.
- Key: in the central courtyard of Yakami Fort, you’ll find the key behind a few enemies distracted in the partitioned area with the key and a small ration box. Sneak by them and grab it, then disappear.

Additional Loot:
- At the eastern end of the first courtyard (from where you entered via the northwest of the tower), you’ll find a chest guarded by an enemy, and behind him, you’ll find an open door leading to a chest, two large piles of resources to smuggle, and a smaller one.
- In the central courtyard, you’ll find an already-opened door with two large resource piles to smuggle, two you can grab, and a chest.
- In the southwestern area of Yakami Fort, there’s a heavily guarded house with a red chest inside. Beware the enemy waiting inside across the room from the chest.
- In the southernmost courtyard where you find the Samurai Daisho, you’ll find a chest outside the house.
- In the western courtyard in the same building as the Legendary Chest, you’ll find another chest on the floor directly above it.
Legendary Chest
Once you’ve defeated the lone Samurai Daisho, head to the western side of the fort. You’ll find a small house guarded by a few enemies, one of which patrols near the front door, so time your entrance when they walk away.
When you open the chest you’ll earn:
- 3,000 exp
- An Engraving
- The Tremor Strike Legendary Kanabo for Yasuke
With the chest claimed, there’s one final reward awaiting you at the top of the tower.
Synchronization Viewpoint
You’ll find a viewpoint in the southeast section of the castle, at the top of a well-guarded tower, where you should defeat the three guards at the base before scaling.
At the top, claim the synchronization viewpoint and your new fast-travel spot.
