When Assassin’s Creed Shadows first starts and you’re handed a list of 11 targets to assassinate, it can be pretty darn intimidating. Over time, though, you’ve gotten through nearly all of them, leaving just a few to finish off.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is under major pressure, but is the series equipped to handle that?
Unless you’re doing the targets out of order and are much braver than I am, then the next target, The Fox, is one of the last on the list for you to take down. Here’s how to get it done and be on the fast track to finishing the game.
Lords Of Azuchi
Where To Reach Oda’s Keep
As was the case for some of the other main assassinations, to start off The Fox’s quest you’ll need to dive into Yasuke’s past a little. The mission in question is called Lords of Azuchi, and requires you to head to Oda’s Keep in Azuchi. Head over there for a flashback that starts off with a long walk through the castle with Ranmaru.
You’ll then get a lengthy cutscene showing more of Yasuke’s past with Nobunaga, before moving on to shooting some targets with the Teppo, a weapon you should be more than familiar with by now. After that, some shinobi attackers will ambush you, which gives you even more practise with the powerful gun. Take them out for another lengthy cutscene that sets up Yasuke’s previous journey with Nobunaga and ends the quest.
Red Walls
Where To Meet With Nagahide
Once that flashback quest is complete, you’ll need to go and meet with Nagahide, who can be found in Wakasa near the Hitokoto Shrine. As usual, use some Scouts or just follow where we’ve marked on the map above. When you find yourself at Nagahide Estate, you’ll see several attackers, who you’ll need to take out. Provided you’re close to the suggested level, they’ll be no bother.
Killing the attackers will result in another cutscene where Nagahide suggests the person you’re looking for is called The Performer. We’ll keep calling him The Fox for now like the game does, but we do at least get another mission unlocked for meeting Nagahide.
Chef Hong
Where To Find Hong
Unlike most other missions in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you won’t have any choice in the order in which you complete your next task, as you’ll have to go and find Chef Hong. Like with Nagahide, Wong can be found in Wakasa, although he’s located in central Obama on a street that’s filled with red lanterns.
Head to where we’ve marked on the map above and Observe to see a bunch of blue dots in the area. There are a bunch of vendors in this area that might be worth checking out, but you’re looking for a shop with a more wide-open space as we’ve pictured above. Head in here to chat with and complete yet another easy-going mission.
You get a few dialogue options during this chat, but there’s no real choices to be made so just pick to your heart’s content.
Revenge
How To Find Nagahide’s Cousin
Don’t worry, though, that all changes in the next quest for The Fox called Revenge. You’ll need to talk to Nagahide’s cousin to start this one off, and she can be found in Tsuraga Castle in eastern Sotomo Gate. Head over to the mission start to chat with the cousin, who will quickly be ambushed by some attackers, a common theme of The Fox’s missions.
Take them all out (making this a good mission for Yasuke from the get-go) and you’ll find that the mission has yet again ended much quicker than you might expect. It does open up yet another quest for you to track called The Music.
The Music
How To Follow The Biwa Music
You won’t have to go far to find this next quest, as it’s also located right in Wakasa in southwestern Sotomo Gate within Saifukuji Temple. To make things easier, though, just go to where we’ve marked on the map. You’ll find a biwa master at the location playing music, who will offer some advice on your target. You won’t believe it, but that’s another short-lived quest complete. Makes a change from the other longer ones, huh?
Smuggler’s Gambit
How To Track Down Samemaru
Getting back to longer quests, though, is Smuggler’s Gambit, which asks you to find Samemaru in Hiruga Bay. This mission will require a lot of combat, so it’s the perfect chance to play as Yasuke. Head over to Hirgua Bay and you’ll be told to “find leads on Samemaru”, which are located on opposite ends from one another in Hiruga Bay.
As the red line below the compass should indicate, this area is packed full of enemies for you to defeat. While Naoe can feasibly stealth her way around, this does seem like an easier task for Yasuke overall since he can just brute force his way through everyone and everything. Do that, and head to the blue dots on either side to pick up the leads for Samemaru. This will automatically change the quest to the final one, which involves killing The Fox.
The Performer
Chasing Samemaru And Finding Takeda Motoaki
To start off The Performer, you need to return to Nagahide, whose location will be marked on the map for you. Sit through that cutscene, and Naoe and Yasuke will be setting up to take The Fox down. You might expect to choose between the two at this point, but that isn’t the case at all, as the game will automatically make you play as Yasuke to chase down Samemaru.
Once you’ve chased Samemaru enough, Yasuke will end up duelling with him due time mentioning someone from their shared path. As a Level 31 enemy with a big health bar, Samemaru might seem scary but he was a total pushover to me and only seemed to attack with a heavy kick that needed to be dodged. Otherwise, just whale on him with special moves and Posture attacks to whittle his health down, before Yasuke deals the final blow.
At this point, control will automatically shift over to Naoe, who is tasked with assassinating The Fox, Takeda Motoaki. You’ll be told that he’s in the Samurai Yashiki District, so head over there to find someone to talk to, who will inform you that he’s on the Southern Side of the district. The biwa can help guide you, but it does disappear occasionally.
You’ll really want to stay undetected for this part of the mission, as guards will chase you around the area and make tailing the woman you need to find a massive pain.
The directions are pretty unclear, to be honest, but you’re looking to head to the area marked above to see a servant praying at an altar. Follow her and head inside the house that’s marked with a blue dot to pick up a scroll and be led directly to Motoaki’s location.
Assassinating The Fox
This cutscene will then result in Naoe taking on The Fox. That’s right, unlike most of the other missions in the game, you can’t choose between Yasuke or Naoe here, so you’ll want to make sure she’s got decent equipment and moves. Motoaki is one of the trickier enemies up to this point, as he often attacks with four heavy strikes in a row that need to be dodged.
His counter is also a heavy kick which seems dangerous but actually makes him easy to trick into giving you opportunities to attack him. One of the best ways to cheese the fight is to attack him until he counters you, dodge his follow-up kick, and then use a Posture Strike to start the process all over again.
I found that the kusarigama was Naoe’s best choice here, as the heavy posture attack has long-reach and can even grapple enemies if you have one of its early skills unlocked.
Just watch out for Motoaki’s heavy attacks and counter them however you see fit and he’ll go down fairly easily. Once you’ve watched the cutscene of his death and found out why Yasuke was so agitated, you’ll unlock the Snakebite Legendary Katana for your troubles. Now just two members of the Shinbakfu remain, and they can both be cleared in the same breath.
