Over the past 18 years, Assassin’s Creed has changed a lot. In its most recent entries, the series has become known for having absolutely massive worlds, something that has carried over to Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Has Prepared Me For Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 requires your full attention, and I’m ready for something a little less intense.
We’ve known for a while now that Shadows would be following in the footsteps of Odyssey and Valhalla, but that hasn’t stopped everyone from wondering just how massive the game will be. Read on, and find out.
How Long Does It Take To Beat?
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is split into three main acts, with an epilogue right at the end. The opening prologue and first act took me around eight hours to clear before things opened up, which led to eight main assassination missions, each lasting around three to four hours. All told, by the time I’d hit credits on Assassin’s Creed Shadows on normal difficulty, my playtime was just over 40 hours.
Those 40 hours saw me explore a decent amount of the map, do every main questline, and recruit most of the allies through the most important side missions. I saw a good amount of Shadows in my playtime, but there was still absolutely loads left to see and do, including a few things I simply hadn’t discovered and mechanics I didn’t interact with much like the Hideout upgrades.
How Long Does It Take To 100 Percent?
With that in mind, I absolutely believe the developer claims that it could take around 80 to 100 hours to 100 percent complete Assassin’s Creed Shadows. There’s so much side content, assassination missions, things to be upgraded, and more to take up your time. If you want to see and do everything in Shadows, you’re looking at an easy doubling of your campaign playtime.
That being said, getting 100 percent of the trophies and achievements doesn’t seem that hard. You don’t need to do everything in the game to get the Platinum, which makes it a lot easier than you might expect from a game that’s so big in every other regard. If you’re a trophy hunter, Shadows won’t pose much threat to you.
Is There A Post-Game?
Once you’ve beaten the main questline for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you’ll unlock some more personal missions for Yasuke and Naoe, which lead to the game’s epilogue. After that, you’re free to explore the map to your heart’s content and clean up any missions that you didn’t catch during your initial playthrough.
Depending on how you play, many of the missions and assassination targets you’re given during the main story are going to be too high level for you to beat until much later in the game. In that sense, there’s definitely a post-game full of things to complete and find.
