Epic Games Store has made its game giveaways on mobile a weekly affair, marking an exciting change for users. Until now, the mobile version of Epic Games Store offered free games on a monthly basis on Android and iOS.
Earlier in January 2025, Epic Games expanded its digital storefront service by launching it for EU-based iOS users and for Android users worldwide. Taking a page out of its own book, the Fortnite developer started giving away free games on the Epic Games Store on mobile, similar to what it has been doing for years on PC. As part of this program, it has offered a couple of notable titles, such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Bloons TD 6, every month for free to mobile users. However, this frequency is now set to increase with these giveaways moving to a weekly schedule.

Starting on March 20, 2025, Epic Games Store began offering free games on mobile every week, ditching the monthly cycle that had been the norm since the storefront debuted on the platform. At the time of writing, users can download Eastern Exorcist and Super Meat Boy Forever until March 27, after which a fresh lineup of paid titles will become free to claim for a limited time. While the former game is a side-scrolling action RPG set in a fantasy world, the latter is a 2D platformer with randomly generated levels. The latest change ensures that Epic Games Store’s giveaway patterns on PC and mobile are aligned with each other, with free games scheduled to go up for grabs each Thursday across both platforms.

With game giveaways following the same cycle on PC and mobile, Epic Games Store has not only streamlined this particular aspect of its storefront but also avoided any possible confusion arising from having a separate pattern for each platform. Moreover, Epic Games taking its free offerings on mobile from monthly to weekly also provides a better incentive for mobile users to download the client, potentially boosting its number of users on mobile.
Meanwhile, the Tim Sweeney-led gaming giant has understandably been moving towards certain store-related targets that it mentioned in a February 2025 update. In the coming months, Epic Games Store is expected to strengthen its mobile games library and bring a variety of key improvements across the board on PC. Based on the newly announced change on the mobile side of things, the near future seems promising for Epic Games Store users on Android and iOS.
