While these games do offer a whole world for you to explore, it’s best if you follow the set path.

While there are many such smaller areas, the main hostile regions in the game are castles, and Katano Castle is one of them. If you successfully assassinate the Daisho in this castle, you can get a legendary chest, giving you a bunch of legendary gear.

How To Find And Enter Katano Castle

To get to the Katano Castle, you’ll first have to get past the prologue until you get your own hideout, which will already take quite a few hours. Once you’re at the hideout, exit the location and start moving in the northwestern direction until you discover Katano Foothills.

From here, keep taking the road northwest and you’ll arrive at the Katano city with the castle on the eastern side. Once you get close, you’ll see a Fast Travel point appear on your directional scale, which exists inside the castle and is the easiest method to locate it.

While you can travel to this point from other places, you won’t be able to fast travel when you’re on it since you’ll be in a red zone.

Once the Katano Castle gets uncovered on your map, you’ll be able to see multiple entries just by zooming in and finding structures in the middle of the water around it. However, the best place to enter this castle is from its southeastern edge where you can simply climb a few boxes and go right in.

How To Find Samurai Daisho In Katano Castle

Assassin's Creed Shadows Katano castle Samurai Daisho locations.

You have two main objectives in these castles that you have to fulfill if you want to get the main loot while also receiving a tick mark on them, marking them as complete. The first objective is to find all the Samurai Daisho and defeat them, and you’ll have to find two of these in Katano.

Samurai Daisho have multiple HP bars with a yellow armor bar on top of it, so they’re quite difficult to fight. If you have to fight them head on, you’d want to take out the other threats first:

  • Assassin's Creed Shadows first entry assassination in Katano Castle.
  • Before you enter Katano Castle, it’s highly recommended to get some upgrade points for Naoe and unlock smoke bombs as they’re a god-sent for grouped enemies. After entering from the southeastern edge, you can move along the castle top to the right side.

You’ll eventually see a singular soldier standing on your left, which is a great place to start your assassinations. The first Samurai Daisho will also be moving around the building in front when you assassinate the first soldier.

  • Assassin's Creed Shadows grouped enemies in Katano Castle.
  • After this is eliminated, you’ll see four more enemies in the southern direction. One of these enemies will constantly move and eventually notice the body you just assassinated. Wait for him to come there and kill him as well.

After that, you can use a smoke bomb on the three enemies standing together and assassinate them one at a time. Start with the smaller enemies as you might not be able to fully assassinate the big one at this stage.

  • After defeating the grouped enemies, head to the western side and defeat the enemy near a stone slab when the Daisho isn’t nearby. You can then easily walk up behind the Daisho and assassinate your first one.

Once that’s over, walk up north in the castle while sticking to the eastern edge and you’ll find a gap in the wall to go through. Keep going up north through here and you’ll easily find the second Daisho.

If you defeat a few enemies in Katano Castle and go away, all the enemies will respawn as soon as there’s a season reset.

However, you won’t have to defeat both the Samurai Daisho again as these don’t respawn.

How To Get The Legendary Chest In Katano Castle

After defeating both the Samurai Daisho, you can head over to the big building on the southwestern side of the castle with the Fast Travel on top of it. When you’re beside this building, you can climb up on its side by using the grapple, which will take you to one of its roofs.

In one of the upper roofs, you’ll find a couple of windows on the front side of the castle that you can use to get inside. Use the one on the northwestern side of the map as there’s a samurai inside and he won’t notice you while using this one. Assassinate the samurai and move down in the building.

Other enemies will consistently be making rounds up and down the building, so it’s recommended to use your eagle vision often.

On the lower floor, you can easily find the legendary chest in the middle room, which gives you Tools Master light armor (for Naoe) and Kunai Throw on Assassinate engraving. The armor has a special engraving that throws a Kunai at the closest enemy when you assassinate a target.

Apart from this chest, you can see various yellow dots around the castle when you press the observe button and look around. These will lead you to chests with other loot, ration or tool refills, and resource points that you can use to smuggle resources at the end of the season using your scouts.
