Summary
- InZoi will cost the same amount as a single expansion for The Sims.
- According to director Hyung-Jin Kim, every expansion released during early access will be free.
- InZoi Studio has planned four major updates in 2025.
InZoi, Krafton’s answer to The Sims, has already received plenty of pre-release attention, primarily due to the game’s photorealistic visuals. A character creator released for a brief period late last year attracted many players – with people creating and sharing recreations of celebrities and other video game characters in InZoi’s beautiful visual style. The game’s director, Hyung-Jin Kim, is firm in his mission: challenging the dominance of The Sims in the life simulation genre.
There have been two consistent concerns regarding InZoi from prospective players – how many features will be available to players in the game’s sandbox, and if the game will have performance issues. The Sims remains incredibly popular because of how much Maxis has built on its formula over the last two decades. You can’t call The Sims “boring” but the jury is still out on how engaging InZoi will be for players.
Expansion-Priced Game
A recent global showcase from InZoi Studio gave us more information on what to expect from the upcoming game. InZoi is set to release on March 28, with four major updates planned in 2025. Cosmetic items like outfits and furniture will be released at three-month intervals. We now also know what InZoi is going to cost: $40. This is the same price as an individual expansion pack for The Sims 4. If you were to buy every piece of additional content for The Sims 4, it would cost you approximately $2500.
Another pleasant surprise came when Kim announced, via a translator, that every expansion would be completely free for players participating in the game’s early access: “Until there’s a full launch, all updates and DLCs will be provided for free.” While we don’t know how expansions will be priced post-release, it’s pleasantly surprising there will be no hidden costs during the game’s early access.
InZoi Studio has already outlined the specifics of each update in its roadmap. A couple of highlights include an adoption system in May, swimming in August, a build mode in October, and a memory system in December. How many features will be available in InZoi’s initial early access release remains a question mark, but we won’t have to wait much longer to find out.
InZoi releases on March 28 for PC, with future releases planned for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
