This new HyperX gaming headset solves a huge problem for gamers and music lovers

The HyperX Cloud 3 S Wireless was revealed during HP’s Amplify event on March 18, and while this new gaming headset looks remarkably similar to existing Cloud 3 designs, it’s packing one huge feature that outgoing music fans will love. In addition to its removable boom mic, the Cloud 3 S Wireless also has an omnidirectional microphone in the earcups, meaning you can wear it on the go without everyone knowing you’re secretly a gamer.

On paper, the HyperX Cloud 3 S Wireless could be one of the best gaming headsets because of this new feature, which takes care of a big gripe some gamers have with certain headsets. Some designs opt for retractable microphones, but this doesn’t fully solve the issue, especially if you plan on taking calls while you’re still wearing the headset.

It isn’t just this added omnidirectional microphone that’s new to the Cloud 3 S Wireless, the headset also adds Bluetooth 5.3 and its earcups are swappable for different designs, allowing you to bring an added bit of flair to your headset. HyperX even showcased some earcups designed to look like wings, so you can finally cosplay as Hermes from Disney’s Hercules.

HyperX claims the battery life on the Cloud 3 S Wireless is also huge, with up to 200 hours of playback via Bluetooth, and 120 hours via 2.4GHz wireless. When it comes to 2.4GHz wireless support, a dongle is included with the headset as expected, but certain Omen gaming laptops will let you connect to the Cloud III S without the need for the dongle.

On the audio front, you’re getting the same 53mm drivers as the Cloud 3 Wireless, so it’s not expected that the quality will be any better or worse in this S model. Pricing is yet to be confirmed, but HP is expected to launch the HyperX Cloud 3 S Wireless sometime in May 2025.
