Each Assassin’s Creed game introduces a bunch of new characters. Since the series has had regular releases since the late 2000s, there have been a lot of characters by this point. It’s fair to say that more men have been in the games than women.

There are a lot of games about hooded figures wielding blades.

That said, plenty of female characters have made their mark on these games, particularly as the series has gone on. There have been female protagonists, antagonists, supporting characters, minor characters, and more in the AC series. The following ones stand out the most, though.

Claudia Auditore Da Firenze

Assassin’s Creed 2 And Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood

Ezio’s sister Claudia has one of the most underrated arcs in the Assassin’s Creed series. At the start of Assassin’s Creed 2, she is quite spoiled and thinks the idea of working is beneath her. This comes from growing up as a noble.

Once her Uncle starts making her work, though, she begins to change. She becomes a competent and hard-working woman. She even runs a successful brothel in Rome. It’s a nice bit of character development for someone who doesn’t get a huge amount of screen time, and it makes her very memorable.

Rebecca Crane

Various Assassin’s Creed Games

Rebecca Crane appears in way more games than most women in the series. This is because she is featured in the present-day storyline. Initially, she helps Desmond and then goes on to assist Layla. She is incredibly intelligent, as she is able to build and maintain the Animus 2.0. Therefore, unlike most Assassins, her best asset is her brain more than her brawn.

Enacting successful assassinations on villainous characters is an iconic aspect to the Assassin’s Creed franchise, and here are the best ones.

As a character, her best asset is her optimistic and energetic nature. After all, characters in these games can often be quite serious. She helps keep things upbeat and offsets her pessimistic teammate, Shaun.

Mary Read

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag

You don’t know that Mary Read is a woman for much of Black Flag. After all, she doesn’t go by that name. Instead, she calls herself James Kidd and poses as a man. This is because she is serving on a pirate ship, and ships didn’t allow women during the period in which this game is set.

She isn’t just a pirate, though. She’s also an Assassin and the one who really pushes Edward Kenway to the Brotherhood. So, she plays an important role in the Black Flag narrative. More than that, she is a humorous and wise supporting character who’s a joy to be around.

Aveline De Grandpre

Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation

Most of the Assassins in the games are heroes, but they have different reasons as to why. For Aveline, it is all about fighting injustice. She grows up in a wealthy family, but it doesn’t mean she’s blind to what other people have to deal with.

The main victims of this injustice are slaves, and Aveline is dedicated to protecting them. The fact that she risks her own comfy life to help those in need shows that Aveline is an incredible hero.

Elise De La Serre

Assassin’s Creed Unity

There aren’t a lot of female Templars in the series, and most of them are villains. Elise from Assassin’s Creed Unity is different, though. She is a member of the evil order but never becomes evil herself. The woman just wants vengeance for her father’s murder.

Plus, she isn’t the most committed member of the Templar Order anyway. Elise is a free spirit and does what she wants, so she doesn’t suit any group. Yet, that doesn’t mean she’s a lone wolf. The woman shares a strong bond with the protagonist, Arno, as the two have one of the best romances in the series. Their scenes are filled with silly banter and tender moments. Together, they help drive Unity’s narrative forward.

4

Juno

Various Assassin’s Creed Games

There are plenty of female villains in the Assassin’s Creed series. None of the others are as powerful as Juno, though. This is because she isn’t human. She is a member of the highly advanced Isu species.

Some Pieces of Eden are stronger than others.

Juno is very well aware of the fact that her species are more advanced than humans. She looks down on people and often sees them as her play things. The woman isn’t afraid to kill or manipulate them, and doesn’t seem to care for them at all, which helps make her an easy-to-hate villain.

3

Kassandra

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

When it comes to pure power, Kassandra is among the strongest protagonists in the Assassin’s Creed series. While she isn’t quite a god or demigod, she does have a lot of Isu DNA, making her far stronger than the average human. This is clear from just looking at her. She has a large and powerful frame, making her visually very different from most of the other female characters in the series.

She knows how tough she is, too. This woman is very confident and doesn’t back down from any challenge. Why should she? Throughout Odyssey, she slays all sorts of rulers, beasts, and Mythical creatures. In fact, her involvement can literally change the tide in large battles between Sparta and Athens.

2

Amunet (Aka Aya)

Assassin’s Creed Origins

Amunet, aka Aya, is one of the most important characters in the series, as she helps create the Hidden Ones, which would go on to become the Assassin Brotherhood. You only get to play as her a little bit in Assassin’s Creed Origins, but she is a significant secondary character in the game.

She is clearly very strong, not just because of her skills in battle, but because she lost her son and she manages to power through. However, since she’s in mourning, she’s often very serious. You don’t see her making many jokes. Instead, she often delivers profound and impactful words.

1

Evie Frye

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

Evie shares the protagonist role in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate with her twin brother Jacob Frye. She is the more mature and level-headed of the iconic duo. This leads to her butting heads with her brother and cleaning up his messes.

Also, she is a firm believer in the Brotherhood, making her a very by-the-book Assassin. While that could have made her a dull character, she still manages to be very witty and likable. Plus, the fact the game shows that her cautious nature can sometimes be a bad thing makes her even more compelling.
