, and took them by surprise, as they’d already played the game for roughly 400 hours before encountering this little detail. While some other players knew about it, it seems that many had missed it, as the pot of gold only shows up on Spring 17. What makes this find so perfect is that the player discovered it on St. Patrick’s Day in the real world.

While Stardew Valley doesn’t have the same holidays as the real world, it has several equivalents, like The Feast of the Winter Star being its equivalent of Christmas, or Spirit’s Eve being its Halloween. St. Patrick’s Day is the same way, with this little detail being a nod to the March 17 holiday, landing on the closest equivalent possible with the game’s four-season calendar: Spring 17.

After the initial reward of the Leprechaun Hat and 200 gold, the player can revisit it annually to get a repeat gold prize plus 25 gold for each year that’s passed in the game.
