If you and your friends have been waiting for the perfect time to dive back into Palworld, this is it. Pocketpair’s flagship title finally has crossplay between platforms, making it easier to play the biggest survival game of 2024 with everyone. That’s not all, though, because the Palworld update also comes with a slate of new, highly requested features and bug fixes. Palworld’s Steam Early Access journey continues, and there’s a lot to see if you jump back in now.
First up in the Palworld Crossplay update is that eponymous feature. You can now play the survival game with anyone on any platform, whether that’s PC, Xbox, or PlayStation. This is a huge moment for the game’s future, as Pocketpair is making it much easier to adventure with more people no matter what hardware they own. In a similar vein, the Global Palbox lets you store Pal data and transfer it between worlds, taking all the creatures you’ve captured since launch with you.
You can now transmog all your armor, too. The new cosmetic armor system has arrived, which means you are able to change your appearance without sacrificing any armor stats. Simply head to the Antique Dresser and equip what you want to wear. Glams are often the endgame of MMOs, so it’s nice to see the same creativity brought to Palworld.
In terms of new mechanics, you can now use the Drafting Table to get more use out of all those low-rarity blueprints. They can be combined with each other to create higher-rarity blueprints instead, and there’s no telling what gear, enhanced items, or weapons you’ll be able to make going forward.
There’s also finally a photo mode, giving you a quick and convenient way to take some close-up pictures of your favorite Pals. Just open the Pal Command Wheel and select the feature, where you can hide all the UI and freely move the camera around for the perfect shot.
Other than all that, the patch notes list some smaller but welcome changes to the game. You can now place buildings even if they overlap with a Pal, and connecting foundations or roofs means these pieces will automatically align in the same direction. Assigning ice Pals to the flea market will even slow down item decay. There are also new NPCs, and you can finally sit right on chairs and cushions, if you want to relax while working all your Pals to the bone.
