Minecraft Is Crossing Over With Popular Fast Food Chain, Includes Spicy Nether-Themed Sauce

Summary

  • Minecraft and McDonald’s are teaming up ahead of A Minecraft Movie’s arrival in theaters.
  • A Minecraft-themed menu available in UK McDonald’s branches from March 26 has been revealed.
  • It will include Minecraft Happy Meals, spicy Nether sauce, and more.

If I know two things about kids, it’s that they love Minecraft, and they love McDonald’s. With that in mind, it should have been obvious A Minecraft Movie would have some sort of McDonald’s crossover ready for when the film hits theaters, and that predictable crossover has now been revealed, confirming some of the Minecraft-themed toys and foods it will bring.

What exactly the Minecraft McDonald’s crossover will bring has been shared by u/Ambientcoin87 on the r/Minecraft subreddit, but appears to have originated on the uknewestfoods Instagram page. The page tends to accurately reveal what’s coming soon to McDonald’s ahead of its frequent menu changes, and it has even shared images of what some of the Minecraft-themed items will look like.

Yes, it does seem as if this crossover will be a UK exclusive. That doesn’t mean the US and other parts of the world won’t have similar Minecraft menu items available at their McDonald’s locations, though.

The crossover will begin on March 26, 2025, so the week before A Minecraft Movie hits cinemas, and will run through May 6, 2025. Naturally, the headliner is a Minecraft Happy Meal with 12 Minecraft items to collect. There will also be what is effectively a Minecraft Happy Meal for grown-ups – the Minecraft Movie Meal which is a Big Mac with either chicken nuggets or veggie dippers with six Minecraft items to collect.

Minecraft Will Have A McDonald’s Residency When Its Movie Hits Cinemas

I Don’t Like That I Need To Know What Nether Sauce Tastes Like

The most exciting part of the Minecraft menu mash-up, for me at least, are the items that have been designed and named to seem as if they’ve been pulled directly out of the game. Most notably, Spicy Nether Flame Sauce. I’ve never happened upon any sauce while exploring the Nether, but you’d have to think with all that fire that any sauce sourced from what is effectively Minecraft hell would have quite a kick.

The Minecraft menu will also include an Apple Cake McFlurry. What exactly will be mixed with McDonald’s signature ice cream hasn’t been divulged, but images of the McFlurry, and that it will be based on Minecraft’s Apple Cake, suggest it will have an apple-flavored sauce and probably be peppered with biscuity pieces.

Not long now until A Minecraft Movie gets here and we can pass judgment on it beyond what we’ve seen in the trailers. There might well be more new Minecraft stuff to look forward to outside of the core game after the movie, too with evidence mounting to suggest a Minecraft Dungeons sequel is in the works.
